"We have a full-size dryer and washer set with the dryer stacked on top. The positioning is a real pain when repairs are necessary; despite advance notice, many companies refuse or charge (a lot) extra for the job. I learned about this company through word-of-mouth in my neighborhood.  Telephone staff was courteous and professional. She was so sure that the stacking issue was not a problem that I just figured she didn't understand or wasn't listening. We scheduled the appointment for the Saturday afternoon window.
One hour into the 4-hour window, I had to - HAD TO - run an emergency errand. I called the company to remind them to call me when they were on the way. Well, it turns out that Mr. James himself answered the phone "from the field." He said that they would call when on the way.
He and his son arrived at the very end of the window, probably because I had given them reason to move another job ahead of mine. They were professional, pleasant and very to-the-point. He diagnosed the problem and gave me an estimate for the parts, which had to be ordered, time necessary to receive the parts, and the labor. I paid a deposit (to cover cost of parts) and we agreed that he would return in 3 days. Three days later, they returned with the parts and a sort of lightweight dolly (forklift?) thing to maneuver the dryer in and out of position. Compared to the drama in manpower, cost, and floor scratches from my last experience with a local "authorized" repair company that first made me wait 10 days for an appointment, this experience was NOTHING (in the best possible way). The dryer works like new. I am happy.
I recommend John James Appliance Services and plan to use the company again. By his card and what I learned in conversation (a conversation that I initiated - he is not the chatty type), Mr. James is one of those people who just knows how stuff works and can fix anything and without a lot of fuss.
