"In January of this year, my wife and I decided we needed to transform our finished basement to an inhabitable living area. That would require adding a bathroom and an egress window for â emergency escapeâ . We hired a contractor for the bathroom and began the research on egress windows. As we were anxious to move ahead ASAP, I began contacting companies that installed egress windows. We had a couple of reps come out, look at our basement, discuss the process and quote prices. Estimates ranged from $8000 to $12000. Most had 2 things in common. 1} They could not schedule the job until somewhere in May or June as â windowsâ wouldnâ t be available until then. 2) Any â finishingâ work (necessary sheet rock and trim) would be extra as they did not do that. In March, I happened upon a copy of a regional advertising magazine (Clipper) which came in our mail. In it was an advertisement for â Basement Gurusâ . Since we still hadnâ t made a commitment for the work, I gave them a call. After discussing the job with them, I came to conclusion to go with â Basement Gurusâ . There were five reasons why I made this decision. 1) It appeared to me, based on reviews, the company had a good reputation. 2) The fact that they had windows in stock. This would move job completion date up significantly over what I had been told by at least three other companies. 3) The price. 4) Excavation would be done manually eliminating the possibility of damage to my neighborâ s lawn. 5) Sheetrock and finishing included. Our egress window project (install/follow up sheetrock/trim) was completed on time. Three workers came to our home for the install. They completed the window in three days. Very efficient, professional. Our township inspector came out a few days later and said â all looked goodâ . Also, John the sheetrock/trim person told me he had done a number of egress finishes. He said this one, as opposed to some heâ d seen, looked really good. The sheetrock and trim was completed in one day. An egress window is a big job. They make alterations to your homeâ s foundation! "The water issue was in a small unfinished corner of the basement after a very heavy rain and only once since we moved in without mold issues- but I decided to get French drains and mold treatment done anyways for the entire basement. "I am a senior with a background in construction.  After reviewing many contractors and speaking with some of them, I immediately knew I hit the jackpot when I spoke to Danny.
 
1.  He knew exactly what I needed and wanted done when I first spoke to him.  This entailed the replacement, repair, and installation of the items listed above with attention to quality in materials, prevention of future problems, a fair price, and a commitment to starting and showing up once the job was initiated.  Danny exceeded every expectation in these regards!
2.  I silently knew in advance manufacturers, quality and cost of exterior doors (including the french door), storm doors, door locks and deadbolts, leak-proof door sills for 6 inch exterior walls and a leak-proof barrier on the bottom of the door frames.  Without knowing of my preferences, Danny suggested the identical manufacturers and materials I had in mind.  At this juncture, we met and I hired Danny to perform the work.
3.  I am beyond pleased with the outcome of Danny's effort on this project.  As an example of his integrity, he asked me to trust him in the design and installation of an exterior octagonal window in a bathroom.  My wife and I were literally blown away with a handcrafted symmetrical waterproof tunnel and inside wall frame he created - more akin to an artistic piece than a window.
4. Inside work was always minimally invasive using tarps and soft shoes rather than work boots.  Outside and inside cleanup at the end of each work day was respectfully performed leaving no mess.
I would recommend Danny to anyone requiring any kind of interior or exterior installation, modification, or repair as I have seen firsthand examples of his experience, skills, and personal and business ethics.  In fact, Danny is presently working on costs to replace our roof."
