"We have hired WB Paving to do 2 residential driveways for us in the past year -- one in Milford, the other in Ocean View and they did a wonderful job both times. The first was a resurface and repair of a large, old asphalt driveway. The second was a replacement of a large semi-circular stone driveway. Tom Baker was responsive, professional, and timely with his work. He was also very communicative since we could not be on-site for either job. He called with questions and updates, sending photos along the way, keeping us informed. Both driveways are beautiful and expertly done. He communicated so easily via cell calls and texts -- even handling contracts digitally. Two wonderful experiences!"

"Wilson prepped the pad for our barndominium, installed our bioswale, helped with tree removal, Installed our septic, and did our driveway for our custom home build. He was great with dealing with the county for us and made things smooth and easy. All work exceeded our expectations. Great guy and it was great to support a small local family in our area. "

"I was very pleased with the work Bill and his crew did. All were very pleasant and professional. They were able to do a final cleanup from over the winter, removing all sticks and leaves. Following that They weeded, raked, installed edging, applied and spread mulch. Did a final cleanup of the mulch, driveway and walk areas before leaving. Very happy with the job they did. I would recommend this company and I would hire them again."

"Juan, his son and the rest of the crew did a great job in repairing and installing a16 foot second wall with column to my patio. They also had to remove half of the pavers to re-level the patio and added pavers to fill-in the 3 feet of bed between the house and the patio on the left side of the steps. They were punctual and very professional. They laid down 4x8 plywood from my front driveway around the back of my house for heavier equipment to protect my grass. My wife and I could not be more pleased with the job that they did and plan to have them back next spring to add some lights to the other wall and columns as we really like the one's that they installed on the new wall."

"We found a piece of stone that we loved in their showroom and was assisted by a very helpful and friendly sales person (Jaime) who was our contact through the whole job. When the new cabinets were installed, we scheduled a template person who arrived promptly and made measurements with laser scanner. The layout arrived quickly via email which I approved for stone cutting. Installers arrived on time schedule and did excellent job. Countertop looks just as beautiful as I had hoped. This is my second experience with Troy as I also had kitchen countertops done a few years ago."

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Dover, DE

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
