"The job went excellent. Shay repaired about 100 lineal feet of fencing that had blown down. He placed new posts in new concrete. Did all new framing and even got me a great deal on the fence boards from a local supplier rather than paying over double at the big box stores. "We hired Josiah with Gate Technologies to install a custom single swing gate for our driveway at home. He was able to take our vision, and design and build exactly what we wanted. He did all the fabrication and installation, and addressed our questions and concerns very professionally along the way, without questioning. In the world of custom gate installations, it's important to learn patience, as all providers in this space have long lead times in being able to get started. But once we were next in line, Josiah got cranking and got us an absolutely beautiful gate that works just as we envisioned. Just recently, I reached out to Josiah, as the gate electronics suddenly stopped responding. He replied within minutes and helped me do a simple reset, and it is working perfectly again. "We expected work to begin on the project in April, but he did not end up starting until the beginning of May. He projected that the job would take about one month, but when he started he informed us that he did not have a crew and he was doing the work all himself so we figured it could take a bit longer than that. The timeline wasn't a huge concern for us so we did not push him on that too much. By the end of May our front deck was done and we loved it. It was just what we wanted. Things were taking longer than expected, but there was steady progress and we were happy with the work being done. The progress was steady until the end of July when Dan stopped showing up. He also stopped responding to calls, emails, or text messages for one full week. At that point we had paid him significantly more than the amount of work he had completed. At this time the back decks and stairs were started but had no railing. This was concerning for a lot of reasons, but mostly a huge safety concern. We have small children and a dog that have access to that area of our yard. We started to consider taking legal action. Then Dan got in contact with us again. He explained that he had a lot of personal things going on, he was struggling financially, and he was embarrassed to come clean with us. He told us that he would get the railing ordered and finished the job as we agreed. We were skeptical and lost trust, so we met with him in person to all sign a detailed paper contract which lined out the timeline expectations, future payments, and expectation about communication regarding the progress of the deck. After that communication returned to the way that it was at the beginning of the project, we were hearing from him regularly and seeing steady progress aside from a number of hang ups due to ordering and manufacturing of materials. The job was eventually completed by the end of September. In total the job took 4.5 months from start of demo. This was a very frustrating project for us. However, the finished product is beautiful and exactly what we were hoping for. Dan is talented and does great work although his communication and honesty leaves a lot to be desired. We should also note that although Dan finished the project and gave us what we wanted, he continually over-promised throughout the project. At the end of the project he offered several things like deck chairs or comped items to try and compensate but he never came through. For the last two months we have tried to contact him about these things and with other questions about warranties, but we have heard nothing back from him. His work is very high quality, and the price was very competitive. He did throw in some discounts to compensate for the communication issues and I believe we got a great deck for a fair price. But, we still haven't heard from him, and although the things he promised are really just extra, I do have some questions about how the Trex warranties work. I guess I'll figure that out on my own. I would probably not hire him again, but if I did (and what I suggest to anyone that does), is to have him sign a very detailed contract for the work and do not pay him advances unless you can help it. Basically, cover your hind. I believe he is a decent person, but if he can't deliver he might just cut his losses, dissappear and move to another job. That's judging from our experience and a few other reviews."

"Jim and his team member were excellent. He brought one other guy with him and I wish I could remember his name.  All the work done was high quality and a beautiful improvement to our home.  There were a lot of weird little quirks in our old house and Jim was great about checking with me before starting each project when something looked it might not be what I had hoped. Jim also had good advice about workarounds.  It was a bonus that they could come on the weekend so we didn't have to take time off work. And they were great with our skittish dogs.  We are really happy with the results and we plan to hire Jim to come back in a few months to do crown molding and finishing work on some built-ins we are installing.

"They were prompt and meticulous with the concrete work, which looked great. They convinced me that I should also seal the concrete pad and tint it to mitigate the harsh whiteness of the concrete. I decided to take a chance on this and was absolutely delighted with the results. With the tinting, the pad blended in much better with the vegetation, and it added to the curb appeal of the house, which we were planning to put on the market. The tinting was well worth the extra cost. They also recommended tinting the new concrete, and the results were equally good. My lesson is that ANB will try to sell extra services, but their recommendations are thoughtful and worth considering.

"Premier painting did exterior work on my house a few years ago and I was happy with their work. I had some interior work that needed to be done, so I asked for a bid. Mojig came out to do the bid and sent me a written estimate using Benjamin Moore Select Regal paint (my preference). Typically, Premier Painting uses Sherwin Williams Emerald paint. I asked him to add "two coats of paint" to the written contract, as the original contract did not specify two coats. Mojig responded that two coats of paint were not necessary since I was using high-quality Benjamin Moore paint. He also said that if it were really needed for coverage, he would apply a second "light" coat. However, I did not feel comfortable with this, particularly since we were going from a dark brown to a cream color. Plus, the manufacturer recommends two coats of paint and all of my previous painters have used two coats of paint. After I told Mojig that I did not want to proceed with the job, he offered to do two coats of paint. However, by that point, I had lost confidence and decided not to proceed with Premier Painting for interior work."
