"They did our basement right before Christmas. They did a fantastic job. They even helped me remove an old well pump that was in the way of their work. They were very professional and punctual. In the picture that shows the Pipe coming down the wall Water use to seep up through the floor there and over in the corner where the sump pump pit is in the corner it would actually run down the wall that is no longer happening. As you can see in the one picture the amount of water that was coming in as they were working was not a good thing as it had not rained in about a week."

"We are very pleased with Loebrich's overall. We had a poor experience with the contractors who did our other bathroom remodel and we heard from a friend to give Loebrich's a call. The owner Dan and I met up in the spring to discuss the project and I gave him all my ideas and he promptly got back to us with an estimate, which was reasonable. He listened to what we would like and took notes. I wasn't sure about all the details and he provided helpful advice and didn't seem to mind at all when I would change my mind on things. We met up at least 3 times before they began our bathroom just to make sure we were on the same page and had all the details worked out BEFORE they began. They began the job right around the time we were told they would (mid to late June). Tim was mostly responsible for the work being done and he was super nice, kept the work site clean, was detail-oriented, and kept me involved in the project at my request. He put up with our dogs as well, even saying hello to them by name every morning when he promptly began at 7 am. He did a beautiful job making us a custom built-in cabinet and custom-made wainscoting. Stan was the tile guy and he did a great job as well. He met up with us ahead of time to discuss the measurements precisely and make sure we were on the same page as to tile placement. We also ended up asking to have the bedroom doors replaced at the last minute and they accommodated that request for us. The bathroom looks beautiful and it was overall just a really different experience from the previous remodel and we couldn't be happier. The customer service Dan provided and the work done by these guys was top notch!!! We will definitely be calling on them in the future for any additional jobs. <br />"

"Both projects were carried out professionally and completed on time and within the agreed upon budget. Not the least expensive, but good value. The work crews on both projects were courteous, prompt and neat. To his (and KLA's) credit, the on-site supervisor for the gutter project immediately notified us when he noticed that the gutter materials delivered by another supplier were not a good match the existing soffit and fascia on our home. Although work had begun in preparation for the delivery that day, all gutters and downspouts already removed were reinstalled and the project suspended until better color-matched gutters and downspouts could be delivered. Although the delay was somewhat of an inconvenience, we appreciated the steps taken to assure ultimate customer satisfaction."

"They did really well. He was a little on the high end but the thing is, on the wood trim they used oak. Oak is expensive. They took out the old tub which was a really, really old tub and took it upstairs. The thing was, they made sure all of the stairs were covered and did a good job of cleaning up and made sure there was no dust, dirt. While they were here, I asked them if they could do a couple of other things for me and they ended up just adding them on."

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Somerset, PA

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
