"I hired Erickson Foundation for radon mitigation. Job went smoothly. They communicated well, were very professional, and reviewed all potential options for the job with me. The system installation was done on time, professionally done, and well cleaned-up. The equipment is high quality, with the 10-year warranty being a big plus."

"Tim was very accommodating: <br /> - He went to the home days earlier to setup for a radon test. <br /> - This test takes a couple of days. <br /> - he did this so I would have the result at around the same time as the inspection results -- awesome! <br /> He was extremely detailed: <br /> - He made sure he explained everything he did and took pictures of everything. <br /> - He provided a detailed and a summary of the inspection. <br /> - This is important as I have found out. When you write your list of fixes you would like the seller to perform, the details go along way in making your point. <br /> Provided follow-up: <br /> - He provided continuous advice and information even days after the inspection was completed. <br /> - Very important - this may end up saving you a couple of THOUSAND DOLLARS as it will do for me! <br /> Money well spent: <br /> $400.00 for the inspection <br /> $150.00 for the radon test (optional) <br /> Some additional advice: <br /> - Since Tim documented everything, keep the inspection report as your little to-do list for things that are to trivial to ask the seller to fix. <br />"

"Very nice to work with during the inspection, great tips, thorough. only thing that was not good, was the format of the inspection report delivered. it was very hard to follow/read, with a lot of redundant info, and odd organization to the items. the report was very frustrating to read and try to inventory and categorize lists of issues to bring to buyer as part of the related negotiation."

"Dennis was incredibly helpful in the scheduling of the inspection of our first potential home. He was flexible on availability, given our tight timelines and the holidays, and was kind enough to work with us on travel fees on a longer-distance inspection. More importantly, as part of the inspection process, Dennis was able to run and provide a neighborhood environmental report (NER), which told us everything we needed to know about our potential home. This report is FREE with any inspection through Able (I am not aware of any other inspectors that offer this). I highly recommend their services to any new (and experienced) home buyers. They are friendly, professional, and extremely resourceful and knowledgeable. We will be using them for any future home inspections!"

"The home was neither brand new nor old. We didn't anticipate that Dave would find major problems, and he didn't, so it was perhaps an easy job. Nonetheless, he was thorough and communicative, pointed out what he did see even while explaining that it was minor, commented on the quality of various installations and what we might anticipate in terms of life expectancy. He talked about how a house is likely to 'settle', and the acceptable indications thereof. (He also had funny stories.) Informative and a pleasure! The price includes radon testing."

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in East Kingston, NH

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
