"I got the number from my neighbor that had some work done , called them and spoke we Daniel. He was very friendly, asked to get a quote done and we scheduled a time for the visit. Jody(not sure if that is his name) came out and was very friendly and he got the quote done in about 10 mins. I called Daniel back to schedule an appointment and they had a slot for the next day. I asked if we had to be home due to everyone in our household had to work, He asked if he could send his guys out just to go over the job. Jon showed up at the allotted time and he was very friendly as well. I did not meet any of the guys that did the job but they did an amazing job! Cleaned up very well, made sure they did not damage my sprinkler system, or any of my trees. They were working with a very small entry. I would for sure pass along the name of this company. I will be using them again to redo my driveway."

"I called Jerry to inquire into residential snow removal and he was able to come out later that same day to assess the property, and then clear the driveway the next day. He was extremely responsive, professional, and friendly, and he did a great job clearing the snow from our long gravel driveway. We will be using him again."

"Lance came out and gave me an estimate for the job. Some unknowns were listed on the estimate due to uncertain locations on the water system map we were provided. He come on the day promised and started work, asking me whenever he needed my input regarding what I wanted done in a certain area. He is very personable and learned the names of my family members, our neighbors, our neighborhood association president, and a member who had knowledge regarding the location of certain aspects of our water system. He arranged for delivery of the tank, brought all components for the drain field, and worked with the electrical installers. <br /> While the yard is now a dirty mess, I did not hire him to be a landscaper! He did a great job at leveling out the yard and driveway (where the new water line was installed) and compacting the soil around the utilities. Now, I need to get a contractor in to put in some sod. Lance is a one-man operation, but very talented with excavator and bulldozer."

"Everyone from dispatch to delivery is professional and helpful.  Their prices are comparable to their competition and their service is fantastic.  The dispatcher (Chris) knows his materials and his advice is spot on - not to mention he is easy to talk to.  The driver (Warren) was helpful and very patient with me as I laid out what I wanted to go where.  I know it has got to get old having lay people direct what, when and where, but Warren placed the gravel where and how I asked.  It was obvious that Warren knows what he is doing, he makes manuvering the trucks look easy.  In fact he did such a good job, that I ended up with less rake work than I had originally planned on.  I have worked with Action Materials prior to this occurrence and their service is rock solid.  With that being said I am finishing up this review and calling Action Materials to have another 6 yards of crushed delivered later this week - putting my money where my mouth is. <br />"

"They have been wonderful. We are holding off building our new home until later this year but we will definitely use them to build the home. They have been very polite and understanding; not harassing us or anything. They keep in touch periodically but are not pushing us. They have been very helpful and I will use them again in the future.  "

"After years of doing our own yards, we have grown more and quot;matureand quot; as well as have achy joints that don't allow us to do much heavy gardening and landscaping. So with purchasing a new house with a large backyard, we found The Ground Guys at the Home and Yard Show and hired them after reviewing other estimates. The initial meeting encouraged us as Scott, the designer, totally and quot;gotand quot; our vision and expanded upon it beyond our expectations! He was onsight for a portion of every day of the 2 week project, and the crew was very skilled, punctual and professional, as well as very personable. Love working with this team and can't wait to have them return for future phases of our landscaping! <br />"

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Spokane, WA

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
