"I have been using Wadkins for about 7 years. They do my weekly lawn service as well as landscaping work. I have great confidence in these guys. When I first started with them, I looked out one day and saw Chandler on the mower. He was double cutting the yard to give the diamond criss cross look. I told him he didn’t need to do that because it was a lot of extra work. He said, “but it looks so good on your yard!” They still do it that way. I knew I had found the right guys when someone cared that much about their work. Will and Chandler are rock stars."

"They did an outstanding job in one of the rooms, where they spent extra time making sure to get a few spots out. The two other rooms were average, as numerous spots remained. Surprisingly, I don't recall their mentioning their inability to get the spots out when the left my house. Also, they were supposed to clean the carpet in a short hallway, but it was obviously not cleaned at all. <br /> Of note, it appears they do not vacuum before they clean the carpets. So, where I had any pieces of solid material on the carpet (think stray popcorn kernels and the like), it remained when they left (though it was pushed to the edges). <br /> I guess I expected more: <br /> 1. A thorough vacuuming first so the full floor of the room was clean <br /> 2. Spot removal in all rooms, or comments about where/why they were unable to remove spots <br /> 3. Consistent performance from one room to the next. It seemed they were focused on making the "nicest"/"most important" room look good, but didn't care as much about the rooms that are less high profile in the house. <br /> If you hire them, my recommendations: <br /> 1. Be sure to walk through and discuss your needs before, and walkthrough with them after as well to ensure satisfaction <br /> 2. They obviously take pride in their work and were extremely professional and efficient. As long as you are able to establish clear expectations up front, I believe you won't be disappointed. <br />"

"I cannot say enough good things about my experience with Turcios Masonry. We had some foundation problems which we repaired, the foundation company tried to patch a crack in the mortar of our brick home, and it looked terrible. I left a message on Monday, and Adin called me back later that day. He came out on a Wednesday while we weren't home, and quoted us for the job. A mason came out on Thursday, took out the old mortar, and on Friday he matched and replaced it. He did such a great job, you can't even tell where the original bad patchwork was done. They stuck to the price they quoted, and Adin texted to make sure I was happy with the work. From start to finish, I had a great experience with Turcos Masonry. I would highly recommend them!"

"Wife's parents retiring in the area. Looked for housing but decided to add on a handicap accessible 'apartment' to our current home. Used a local architect (DAAD) to design, then bid the job to a couple contractors. Levi and Matt had just begun B and B Design Build and we knew them both through church. This was a big job for their first major collaboration, and they nailed it. The project was 1500 sq ft, with a basement garage beneath. It joins seamlessly with the main house, as the design, window style, even the brick was matched very well. We found Matt, Levi and their crew to be responsive, professional, friendly, hardworking and we've been very satisfied. Even 2+ years later, they will still come out to check something if we have a problem."

"Overall we are happy with the work done. One of the things that most impressed us is that our call was returned promptly and we received the promised quote promptly as well. This is in stark contrast to the other ( all A rated ) providers we called, many of whom either never bothered to return our initial call or send us the promised quote after reviewing the job. Work was done as agreed, no surprises."

"Fireplace inspection and cleaning scheduled quickly and arrived promptly on time. Chose Chimney Quest for best price quoted for cleaning. Found cracks in ceramic plates and gave quote to replace. Needed to order plates and scheduled date and time for replacement. Day of repair did not arrive on time; however did call to report they were unavoidably detained on last job and gave window of time of arrival. Replaced ceramic plates with steel plates. Worked quickly and efficiently and cleaned up well. Gave discount on dryer vent cleaning. Will use again for fireplace/chimney work and dryer vent cleaning."

"Just had a great experience with Granite Masters; friendly, fast, great quality and excellent pricing. Literally it was one week and one day from my first call to Granite Masters until my new seven foot double bowl vanity top was installed. We visited their office on Tuesday afternoon and looked at a good selection of granite slabs, they came and measured on Thursday afternoon and installed the new top the next Wednesday. I will definitely be using them for all my future granite needs"

"Chirs came to give us an estimate within 2 days of when we first contacted him. He scheduled the work for the following week. Unfortunately, the forecast was wrong and it rained the day he was supposed to come. He called us that day to reschedule and was kind enough to come on a Sunday afternoon because it best fit our schedule. Chris was punctual and very courteous. He did a thorough job cleaning the gutters and downspouts and requested that we inspect his work when he was finished. We highly recommend him."

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Springfield, TN

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
