"Getting a walk in tub is expensive no matter who you use. My experience thus far is with installation only and I must say my install went great. It has been over a month and no issues with my tub so I cannot comment on repair process with American Standard."

"All workers were respectful and polite. They finished work in less time than I thought and cleaned up any mess which I appreciated. Tub and wall look beautiful. They explained how to use it. Customer service was great starting with sales rep and throughout installation. They removed the big whirlpool tub and installed a walk-in tub."

"I needed to update the toilet in the basement. Andrew installed a new toilet and took the old toilet away. Andrew did a good job and made sure all was clean but my only problem is that he is very pricey. The price quoted was not the price I ended up paying. I know unforeseen things can pop up but my install was pretty straight forward. Andrew is a very nice young man but because of pricing I could never use him again."

"Dale did a phenomenal job with our project. Our house is old and challenging to work with from many facets, primarily in how things were laid out by builders/previous owners. These obstacles were met with little concern and Dale was always upfront with and optimistic about any surprises our house provided. We couldn't have been more thrilled with the contractor or the results of the project. I have recommended Hibbard Home Improvement to at least ten of my closest friends and will continue to do so."

"Work performed well. Looks good. Will wait to see how it holds up to normal use. From what we understand the product is somewhat fragile (i.e. you're not supposed to sit bottles etc. on the edged of the tub, no suction cups on the walls, basically nothing is supposed to sit on the refinished areas, so where are you supposed to put your shower stuff??) Like I said, we will wait and see how it holds up over the next few years. Overall the two guys who came to do the work were great. Very nice and willing to explain everything in detail. They did very good work. You wouldn't even know the bathtub used to be blue."

"The bidding and quoting went smoothly.  We knew it would not be inexpensive and also knew we wanted quality materials and paint.  We approached Highland because we observed them working on our neighbor's house a few months earlier and they were happy with the work.
The strengths:
They are definitely solid house painters, they do magic with ladders to getting to every location, as we have a tudor house with high peaks and difficult angles.  Everyone was professional with us at all times and they did clean up after themselves.  They always showed up early in the morning.
Areas for some improvement:
I think the area needing the most work is communication.  We were expecting them one day and they actually arrived a day early (which I know you should never complain about when it comes to contractors) however we did not have the outside of the house ready for their arrival. There was some internal communication issues that arose.  At one point the guys who were supposed to fix the gutter were unaware of that fact.    As with most contractor jobs, it's about the details.  We did a walk around and found a couple of places that were not painted, or where a operational window was painted shut.  Nothing major,  but required homeowner diligence.
The most significant problem we experienced was with the window replacement in the garage.    It arrived a day before we were to go on vacation, so we told them to go ahead and replace it while we were gone.   When we got back, the first thing I noticed was that the window was off center.    At first the highland folks thought it was more of an optical illusion.  So, my spouse went up to the second story centered window and dropped a line showing the lower window was indeed 3-4" off center.   We knew it would be more obvious as soon as we hung a wreath or a flag between the top and bottom window.     To their credit (and the reason their score is a B and not a C) they removed all the necessary siding, and trim and re centered the window without the hint of annoyance.
All in all, we would highly recommend them for their painting and cedar shake siding skills.

"

The company is more than an hour from where I live. They actually cement work for about two hours. The work that I needed done could only be started, not finished in two hours. We decided that it made more sense to not start work they could not finish. It made no sense to drive back and forth to get it finished up a subsequent day. Unfortunately they're so overwhelmed with people wanting them, it took three weeks for me to hear from them. By the time they came out to assess the situation the deal had already left. They're perfectly cordial guys, I thought they were honest.

FAQs for walk in tub installation and replacement projects in Springville, NY

Because Medicare classifies walk-in tubs as non-durable medical equipment, it generally won’t pick up the tab. Medicaid can help if a doctor certifies that the tub is medically necessary, but rules change by state. Call your plan early, ask which forms you need, and keep any prescriptions or letters on file to improve your odds of reimbursement.

A walk-in bathtub’s fill and drain times hinge on your home’s water pressure and the tub’s hardware. Most models with a fast-fill faucet need about six to eight minutes to fill and two to three minutes to drain; larger basins or standard drains can tack on an extra 10 minutes. Stay seated until the water is completely gone so you don’t swing the door open on a full tub’s worth of water.

A walk-in bathtub holds 50 gallons of water, and its design supports capacities that range from 40 to 80 gallons, depending on the product. In contrast, a standard bathtub holds 25 to 45 gallons. This capacity is determined by the fixed design of the tub and its construction materials. Homeowners should review the detailed product specifications to confirm the exact volume available for use during bath time.

Walk-in tubs are tax-deductible when the purchase qualifies as a necessary medical expense and meets the IRS criteria. Caregivers who install a walk-in tub also qualify for the Dependent Care Tax Credit under specific conditions. Homeowners must verify these requirements with the IRS and consult a tax professional, as state and program guidelines enforce strict documentation standards for such deductions.
