"A soft wall due to improperly installed gutter by some other entity or homeowner caused water to constantly leak into the wall from the exterior roofline. This soft wall grow moldy and become riddled with pests/bugs. The contractor identified the potential issues, agreed to explore and open the walls and discuss the conditions, made sound recommendations for repair and did exactly what was noted in the repair (replaced a load bearing exterior wall, fixed the sill plate, completed the roof, shingles etc. and closed up the walls on the inside with insulation and sheet rock.). The work was timely, well done, the workers were clean as they did the job and kept the rest of the property clean. The manager of the job David Apel was and is an excellent communicator with phone/email/text and photos of processes and progress. I am going to use this company in my own investment endeavors on other properties and projects given the level of finished work, the timing and especially the level of detailed communication."

"360 Contracting was great. Damion arrived on time with a helper. He was organized, courteous and professional. He did not complain and stayed cheerful despite Home Depot misplacing our door for pickup. Excellent problem solver when things didn't go as expected with the cabinet install. Definitely using him again next time we need a handyman or electrician. I got 3 quotes and his pricing was the best."

"We hired Valeria and Ed to complete a full renovation of our historic brownstone in Manhattan. They provided us a detailed, incredibly accurate and competitive quote for completing the renovation, regarding both budget and timeline, and stayed entirely within the budget and timeline projected. They were also able to seamlessly pivot and adapt when we made several drastic scope and design alterations during construction. Even considering these changes, Valeria and Ed stayed within the projected timeline for completion of our project. Importantly, they did not juggle our renovation with other concurrent projects, but rather focused entirely on our renovation in order to get the job done well and within the projected timeline. The renovation that Ed and Valeria did on our brownstone has stood the test of time. We have been living in it for years, and have had zero issues or causes for concern. This includes with respect to new air conditioning units, a washer and dryer, a new powder room, a fully renovated kitchen and its appliances, and other major plumbing and electrical work, in addition to aesthetic details like painting, plaster repair and more. When we have needed to follow up with Valeria and Ed, they have always been responsive and have stood by their work. Ed was a masterful carpenter and very thoughtful in working around the historic details of our property. He was also very respectful about protecting and not damaging the floors and other aspects of the home during construction. He and Valeria are kind and thoughtful people, and incredibly responsive to emails, calls and inquires. They provided us with weekly updates of the renovation that included pictures and details of the work being completed. They also connected us with their contacts and suppliers for hardware and materials in the industry, and generously extended us some of their benefits as contractors when working directly with suppliers. Overall, we fully recommend using Ed and Valeria for your home improvement needs, and we will be using them again for future projects."

"The carpenter that did the job (Adam) was amazing. He had to expand the space for one window, narrow the space for another, and repair much cedar siding that had rotted away due to water damage. He also reshaped my patio door so it would close and lock more easily. He is a very talented carpenter and I have no qualms about highly recommending him."

"Frabrico and those who worked with him were very talented, professional and fair in pricing. The did a fantastic job on three different jobs. The remodeled two bathrooms, constructed a large shed kit, reconstructed our second floor porch and even put together a bed with storage. I will continue to use Frabrico and his company for future home improvements"

"It was so much easier than getting a dumpster. I paid less money than if I had gotten a dumpster because a dumpster charges by weight and since it snowed and rained, everything in the bag was wet - I would have paid a fortune!!! With the bullbag, I paid one set price and the cool part: I got the bag back to refill again and again. This company also recycles most of what is collected so less ends up in a landfill. <br /> No better business bureau complaints. <br /> One set price to empty. <br /> I get to reuse the bag over and over."

"My wife and I DO NOT use anyone who is not on Angie's List so we understand the importance of having accurate, fair reviews. We found Cary on Angie's List with overall great feedback on jobs he had done so we called him in for an estimate. Despite being very busy, he made the time to come over on a Saturday morning. He had previously dropped by and assessed the damage from the outside but needed to see it from the inside to ensure he could judge it accurately. After 15 minutes, our fears were realized and he said he would need to remove the cedar impression siding and remove the roof and replace it with a different system because the pitch wasn't steep enough.  <br /> Within 48 hours, he provided a quote for his crew to come out and get the work done in a single day which was completely reasonable. He completed the work (guaranteed) as promised and left the site immaculate. He took pictures of the issue, of job progress and of the completed job. He mentioned he went around and filled some other issues he noticed while he was waiting for his crew to wrap up, no charge at all. He then discounted the quoted, agreed price 5% for angie's list deal I wasn't even aware of. Have you ever heard of a contractor accept less than an agreed price? Me neither. <br /> Angie's List is a great resource for people to share experiences. I think the contractors who are honest and reasonable should be applauded too. We have been on the receiving end of some really lousy service so this was a new experience having someone do what they promised to do. Cary and his crew are the best in Monmouth County. We already have him pricing out finishing a storage space and will use him to build our deck in the spring. I cannot recommend Cary enough and you can reach me through Cary if you'd like to see his work firsthand.  <br /> Kevin <br />"

FAQs for shelter or outbuilding building service projects in Stamford, CT

A bomb shelter is an abode built to withstand disaster. Bomb shelters may refer to a space or bunker that can protect inhabitants through a hypothetical nuclear attack, apocalypse, or any other massive crisis. People usually build bomb shelters underground and stock them to live there a few days to a month at a time. Doomsday bunkers accommodate long-term living rather than just through a short crisis.

Builders construct bomb shelters with reinforced steel, box culvert, concrete, or other durable materials (but many professionals do not recommend shipping containers, as they’re not designed to live underground. If building underground, you’ll first have to excavate land before building the actual structure. You’ll have to implement air and water filtration systems, septic systems, and power supply.

It takes a lot of experience to safely and legally construct a bomb shelter, not to mention make sure it’s fit to live in for extended periods of time. It’s best to talk to a residential structural engineer near you for proper guidance.

The current standard filtration systems require filtering both air and water. For air, you’ll want an NBC filter system, which both domestic and international producers make. NBC stands for Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical, which filters out all three. If you’re only building your shelter for natural disasters, chemical attacks, and biological attacks, you may opt for the less expensive HEPA filter system.

Water filtration requires the same level of care. You’ll likely want to have a large water storage capacity to survive short-term disasters. For long-term living, you’ll want to have a water filtration system.

Rising S bunker prices depend on the size, ranging anywhere from $20,000 to $9 million. Their least expensive model is 96 square feet while their most expensive model has a gym, swimming pool, hot tub, and bowling alley.

  • Mini: $45,500

  • Standard Bomb Shelter: $67,500–$109,500

  • Silver Leaf: $140,000–$182,500

  • Admiral: $180,000–$500,000

  • Xtreme: $450,000–$780,000

  • Xtreme Bunker Complex: $840,000–$1,830,000

  • Luxury Series: $3,800,000–$9,600,000

You almost always need a permit to build a bunker on land with any type of public utilities running through it. You’ll want to check with your local building code enforcement agency to see if this is the case for your area.

Because you’re building a structural component that often requires electricity, water, and sewage services, you’ll need to apply for permits to attach these utilities to your new property. However, off-grid-only units in rural areas may not need all or any of the permitting you’d normally find in more urban settings.

To survive a nuclear blast, you’ll need to have your bunker at least three feet underground. However, it’s usually advisable to put it further underground. To survive a close strike, you’ll want to have the bunker at least 10 feet down and with five-foot thick reinforced concrete. However, knowing exactly how deep to build depends on the size of the blast you’re trying to avoid. Most bunkers don’t need to be more than 5 feet below the ground.
