"Greg installed a new metal roof for me in Donalsonville, GA. I can't say enough good things about him and his company. He was prompt with an estimate and stayed in contact with me throughout the whole process. Also, he sent pictures during and after the installation. You can't go wrong hiring Southern Signature Solutions. I will be definitely be calling him again for future jobs."

"Not very well. The cost and budget for the project was agreed upon prior to the hiring Ideal. There was not enough time was alloted for the project.. I had to be out there the entire time; if not it would have been worst. 1) All areas to be Weed Whacked were not done. A Banana Tree and Hibiscus shrub were lost during the whacking. 2) The tree limbs on one tree were cut back farther than requested creating/ leaving excess logs, tree limbs and debris at my home which defeats the purpose of cleaning my yard. The tree on the side of the house with the limb hovering over the roof , .the main limb that we discussed and agreed would be removed was not.. I had to move some of the smaller limbs cut from the side of the house. The issue that I have is the contractor created more debris by not following my instruction/ wishes. Although he hauled away some of the logs and debris, I now have allot of debris that I now have to pay someone to haul off my property. If the project had been done as I asked. The debris could have been cut up and taken away by the county. The Pieces left behind were not cut up small enough to do so. I expressed my concerns, Ideal was to come back the following day with a bigger truck to remove the debris for $100. This was a week ago. I don't feel that I should pay to remove debris that would be non-exsistent if he had followed my wishes. They bagged yard waste in black plastic bags that coukd have been put in the paper bags and hauled away by the county. They were planning to leave my home with piles of yard waste left throughout the yard."

"They did a wonderful job and went above and beyond my expectations. They accomplished more in 3 hours than I could do in weeks. They even shampooed my carpets! Amy even contacted me after the service to make sure everything was to my liking. I could not recommend this cleaning service more.

"Home Innovations Of Augusta responded to my inquiry almost immediately and set up a time to call the following week. After talking to them on the phone we quickly set up a time for them to come out and price the project. When they arrived, they were very polite and professional. I was not provided a quote but told that they would have to order new cabinet doors. Once Home Innovations Of Augusta got a price on the cabinet doors they would contact me again. That was the last I heard from them. One month after the initial call I sent a follow up message to see if they were going to be able to do the project or not. I again got a prompt reply saying they would look into why i hadn't received a quote. That was the last I heard from them. As my initial conversation and meeting with Home Innovations Of Augusta seemed to go well I had high hopes of some quality work but being completely ignored has changed my opinion. If Home Innovations Of Augusta had continued to act in a professional manner I would have had no issue with contracting them for the work and recommending them to others. As it is you will have to rely on other reviews of actual work completed."

"I would recommend that if you were in the need for a remodel or renovation that you consider Brian's Installations.
We remodeled three bathrooms and had to replace the upstairs subfloor due to settling issues after 30 years. Brian and his crew were selected after meeting with six other contractors. They were the ones who came in closest to our budget. We needed a general contractor who could remodel the bathroom as well as fix the sagging subfloor. Brian started off replacing the half bath and scheduled for a two week remodel. They had the tear out completed by the mid morning on the first day. They finished two days early and on budget. We then moved upstairs where we ripped out our  two full bathrooms. We took off for a week while they worked on the remodel. They had both bathrooms ripped out on a Saturday afternoon on the first day.  They sent us updates and  pictures throughout the time we were gone.  They were able to install most of the guest bathroom in the week we were gone.  By the time we returned, they had the new bath installed in order to use it.   It took almost a few days for them to finish  this bathroom after we returned.   There was a small inconvenience when we were trying to seal off the bathrooms. Each time we use the bathroom we are astonished at the details that Brian and his crew created.

After the guest bathroom was useable, the team proceeded to rip out the sagging old flooring and start the master bathroom renovations.   This bathroom renovation had some of its own issues.  We had to move the wall of the master bath out into the bedroom, where we added a pocket door, removed some of the old closet space.   We went from a single lavatory to a his and hers.   Brian was able to turn an old master bath which I had never used since I moved in two years prior into a place that  I love to start and end my days.    Brian's attention to detail was amazing.      The floors were never going to be level, but Brian and his team were able to make them flat so that I could go back in and install the floors myself.   He also had a brilliant idea to make two cabinets that would fit under the window, this gave us a nice place where we could sit and watch the deer in the front yard.
We had Brian make some custom cabinets for our bedrooms.   We wanted to take advantage of some of the lost space where the the roof  forms the doghouses. Brian was able to ensure that the walls and roof was properly braced, and created some beautiful cabinetry that provides us a place to store books.
Finally we asked Brian if he could give us recommendations for the stairwell.   The stairwell had the original shag carpet on it with a very small rail.   We had removed the shag carpet and found that the stairs were in good shape but did not match the bamboo flooring that we had installed.   After talking to Brian about the prices for Bamboo Treads and installation, he told us that we could get some hardwood treads and match up the stain in order to make them look similar.   He did a great job of matching up the looks and loved the work he completed.  His attention to the small details like the stair end caps really set the stairwell apart now.    The rail is now up to code in terms of height and ensuring that small kids can not get stuck between the rails.
If we saw something that needed to be touched up, we didn't like or just didn't work, we worked together to come up with a solution.  Most of the time, he would see it himself, explain the issues and remedy it.    The few times that we actually had an issue, Brian addressed that issue.   Brian was upfront about repairs, costs and solutions.   If we saw something (say a chipped mosiac tile, he would replace it.
The major issue for Brian (which is a good issue to have) is that  Brian is normally booked up for a few months with other jobs so scheduling can be an issue.   If you know that you are going to do some work, understand that this is a process. Unless you have major issues like a roof leak, you fell through the floor or the ceiling collapsed, major renovations don't just happen.   Call him up, get an estimate but allow him to suggest things that you may not have thought about.   If you consider that this is a process, renovations become much easier.   He can help guide you with many of the renovations by scheduling meetings with local manufactures, recommending grout and paint colors, suggesting granite for the area based off of colors to be used.
I am not going to say that everything was rosey all the time, but the key was that we communicated with each other and anytime anything major arose, Brian listened and we sought solutions to the problems.  A case in point was a local plumbing subcontractor that was used for this job.   He overcharged for the work and wasn't always working when on the job.   Brian called him out by saying that he was not being paid to sit around and talk.  Brian at the end of the day, if he had to use a sub or recommend someone else to work on a job, was great about ensuring that our needs were met and  that we were satisfied.
I would recommend Brian's Installations for your remodeling and repair needs.

"While some of the work is still in progress. We are very pleased with the quality. We are enjoying having a contractor we can count on to make our home into our vision without constantly nickel and diming us! He has been a pleasure to work with and he always makes himself available to us if we need it. He has many skilled crews and we experienced that first hand with John, Dave and Bernie! A top notch crew still doing a lot of our work. Looking forward to completion when we will repost a final review.

FAQs for deck or porch projects in Stapleton, GA

To maximize your budget, compare quotes of several builders that fit within your specifications. Don’t be afraid to draw a wider geographic circle if the contractor is willing to travel without charging more. But affordability only matters if you get a quality deck out of it.

Cutting corners or simply finding the cheapest pro could result in significant problems. The materials used may be cheap and rot quickly. The support the surface provides might be unstable and dangerous. Always consider the long-term costs and benefits of quality work. Paying less upfront may actually be more expensive if you consider the cost of repairs.

Deciding on which materials you should use depends entirely on the type of deck you’re looking for. Composite works well for a simple surface exposed to harsh elements, while concrete is the standard choice for many patios. Your decking material options can range from wood to aluminum. Learn about the pros and cons of these materials to make the right decision.

You can build a deck during any season, which is why choosing the right time for this project depends on your preferences:

  • Spring: get your deck ready in time for landscaping and to enjoy it throughout the warmer seasons.

  • Summer: use spring for the planning process, then get the project ready before it gets cold out.

  • Fall: Limit turf or landscape damage by building once most plants begin to recede.

  • Winter: make the excavation process easier, thanks to cold and firm ground.

Many deck builders prefer winter, which is also the season with the shortest waiting queues. Still, other seasons are far from impossible for this type of project.

Expect a thorough examination of the space, and the development of a project schedule. Delivery of materials might already have occurred or could be planned at this point.

Additional research about working with deck builders can help you understand what to expect from experts, and what they expect from you.

Make sure the site of the deck or patio is clear of any landscaping and debris. The contractor will also call a utilities locator service to mark power, water, cable, and other services around the area where they will be digging. The cleaner the area your builder has to work with, the more quickly they can get started. Make sure they have space to park any construction vehicles. Find a dry space for materials that might need storage during the install. Finally, ensure clear access to the site through your house or property.

When it comes to the DIY vs. hire a pro decision for your deck, the answer tends to be clear. Only take it on yourself if you have significant expertise and experience. Without either, you risk building a faulty exterior space, leading to injury risks. Projects built without necessary expertise also break more quickly, making them more expensive in the long run.

If you do want to take on decking as a DIY project, be sure to do your research. Learn about installing the posts and footing for your framing. Understand how to lay decking boards and build the railings and stairs you need for access and security.
