"I was looking to hire someone to lay down a new gravel drIveway and Absolute was the first to reach out and the best bang for my buck. Kieth and his team stayed focused at the task at hand. They were all very open to any concerns and readily corrected or went with the flow of any changes during the project. Awesome and very pleased with the final product."

"They installed a French drain, capture basin, top soiled, and laid sod. Water is still resting on surface in some areas which is a little concerning, but work looks great. Nice people."

"This Pro was asked to build a driveway on a piece of bare land we purchased! Needless to say it was EXCELLENT work. Branden is reliable. He shows us on time and gets the job done. His attention to detail is evident. Branden constructed my driveway as it was his own. I will be hiring Branden again for future projects. Thank you for a job well done! "

"They arrived on time. They explained that there would be a few delays since some family members had tasks at other locations but that they would finish that day. What took me three days and 11 bags of debris the year before, they did it in about 3 hours. <br /> They weed-eated and killed the weeds on the entire driveway. Then they successfully backed the asphalt truck down my very narrow driveway. They applied and spread the tar. Then they brought in a front loader and spread the pea gravel which was supposed to stick to the tar. I admit that I had my doubts! But I was mollified when they brought in a roller and I watched them and quot;pressand quot; the pea gravel into the tar. <br /> I've owned this house for about 12 years and the driveway has never looked better. I drove on it about an hour after they left. Billy was right. No gravel kicked up when I backed out of the garage. <br /> We did the whole thing on a handshake. I explained how I could and would pay them and they accepted the terms. <br /> Personally, I wish we had more companies like this. Where our word is our bond. <br /> I'm delighted to have had a transaction with this company. Kudos to them! <br />"

"I was very happy with the service and the quality of the job done by AmeriTex. Robert helped me through the process, including meeting with our insurance adjuster. He was prompt and professional, and he was super responsive when I had a question or needed more information. The roof and gutters look great and it is evident it is a quality job. The installers were courteous and were very efficient, getting the roofing job done in two days, including tear-off. I have recommended AmeriTex to two of my friends for their roofing needs."

"Three small ocotillos ($195) were refused  as being greatly over-priced -- they were so very small that there was no need to pay anyone to plant them -- they could be done with a hand trowel.  Two little apricot trees ($290) were also refused as being overpriced, and with careless bark damage.   <br /> I had hoped to do a much larger project: trellises with grapes, raised garden, additional shrubs, along with some removal of dead material after the cold winter, etc.  His verbal estimates of some of the work were so high, that I found other people to do it, did it myself, or postponed it.  He was not eager to please the customer.  I was prepared to spend a substantial sum if I had found a responsive and knowledgeable provider. I was disappointed.   <br /> Mr. Korody may have been too busy to pay much attention to my project, I don't know.  He seemed very professional when he first came to talk, but didn't follow through well.  He seemed to have little knowledge of horticulture, and little feel for plant materials.  His promotional photos featured hardscaping, but we didn't get that far in my project, so I can't speak to his skills in that area. <br /> If we had had a productive working relationship, cost alone would not have deterred me from continuing with him.  I felt he was unresponsive, perhaps even dismissive, and I was concerned about his lack of interest and knowledge regarding plant materials.  If he hasn't completed the Master Gardener program, I would recommend it to him. I hesitated to do this review for some time, but I think it only fair to others to get it done.I'd like to put in a good word for the two young men who were actually doing the work.  They were hard-working, pleasant, and concerned with doing a good job."

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Stephenville, TX

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
