"Having just moved into my home and also from my home inspector's recommendation, I wanted to have the chimney inspected and cleaned.  After contacting several chimney sweeps on Angie's List, I decided to go with A Cheaper Chimney Sweeper because of the company ratings, the price estimate was good, and I talked with the person who would actually do the work.  Lee actually came over on the wrong day, but apologized and agreed to come back the next day at our agreed data/time.  Lee showed up on time and was very professional.  Upon his initial inspection of the inside of the chimney, he realized that the chimney did not need to be cleaned, as it didn't appear to be used very much.  After his external inspection, he did recommend getting a new chase pan for the chimney.  The existing one was a 'builder's special' that after 19 years has seen better days.  We did notice water coming into the chimney area indicating some leakage from the chase pan.  Our home inspector also indicated water pooling in that area and took several photos of it.  We agreed to get the chase pan replaced and Lee didn't charge us for the cleaning visit.  Lee and his brother Frank came out in late August to take measurements for the new chase pan.  They have them custom-made by another company.  They were going to remove the old chase pan to bring to the company but decided to rely on Frank's measurements.  They returned later in the week to remove the old chase pan and install the new one.  It took several hours to complete the work.  Overall, they were very focused on doing the job right - making sure that everything was cleaned up, properly installed and sealed from weather.  All the time that they worked, they were doing the 'little things' that make for quality work (like re-nailing some popped nails after they borrowed my hammer).  After the work was completed, I felt like I won't have to worry about any issues with the chase pan for a long time.  And on top of that, they gave me a 20 year warranty on the chase pan.  If you want quality work at a fair price,  I would highly recommend A Cheaper Chimney Sweeper.

"The team that executed the project was punctual and knowledgeable and they mostly stick to what the sales guy has promised. However, there was one last-minute change: they claimed it would take too long to remove the siding and apply the dense-pack insulation on second floor walls from the outside, making it impossible to finish the project in just one day. The alternative was to drill holes from the inside to apply the insulation, which I approved. They cover the holes when the finished, but it didn't look good (see the picture I attached). They run a blower door test before and the result was 4,175 cfm50. After the finishing, they did the test again and the result was 2,850 cfm50 (31.7% of improvement). They applied with Consumer's Energy and DTE for rebates and I could get back a significant amount of what I invested on this project."

"I was told I needed a new roof by a few different companies and when Roofman came out and inspected the roof, he inspected the roof and told me it was good for another 3 years and it did not need replacement. I had one shingle tear back and had it repaired and the other companies told me I needed a new roof and the quotes were over $10,000 for a 10 year warranty. But Roofman was honest and gave me a quote a two thousand less and told me I did not need a new roof. I am so happy that there are still honest people out there. This also gives me a few years to save for a new one. "This was a multi-part job that took the crew approximately one week to complete.  Sean Harrington was great to work with, he always answered my emails or returned calls promptly.  The work crew was very professional; they did good work and took care to clean up well when they were finished.  The bricks on my house have an unusual and unique texturing so it was not possible to find an exact match but after extensive searching they were able to find a very close match (color/size match exactly but without the same texturing).  They mixed some of the original undamaged bricks back into the chimney when they rebuilt it making it blend in with the rest of the house, the result looks excellent.  The trench drain they installed in my driveway also looks and functions great and has kept my garage dry.  Part of the original drain install was not as I had expected but Sean worked with me to get it to meet my full expectations, he is committed to having completely satisfied customers and doing the job right.  I would definitely work with them again.
