"Our initial meeting with Suj was great. Initially, we had in mind a much larger job. He had quoted us $3000 for the closet demolition / wall rebuild (non-load bearing), packaged with several other items. Together with the fee for drawings ($4000) and permits, this was a bit higher than we anticipated. However, we decided to go with Suj due to his responsiveness and professionalism. Out of our other quotes, Suj’s pricing was middle of the pack - not the cheapest or most expensive. When the drawings were complete and evaluated, he gave us an updated cost of $6000 over text message. The scope of work had changed, and this was no longer part of a bigger project - understandable. The issue was when he gave us the official estimate a week later and up’d the price once again to $9000. When asked what happened, his exact words were “well, I need to get paid too”. He had weeks to consider before quoting the $6000 and nothing had changed since then. The extra $3000 may be insignificant compared to most renovation costs, but for us in our first home, this was back breaking. We continued with Suj since we were already locked in and well past the 3 day cancellation period. Their work for the most part was exceptional. The new wall blended perfectly into our existing structure, and the ceiling patch was also well done. The problem here was the floor. They had dug up a 1” deep pit in the floor, likely to remove the wall studs. However, they did not patch the floor or even let us know this was going to be an issue. We were never told about the pit until I decided to check in on their progress one day towards the end of the wall build. This required us to pay a handyman to come in next day on a weekend to patch the concrete since we had cabinets being installed the following Tuesday. Suj was aware of this and did not believe it pertinent information. Overall, Suj and SoCal Builders do quality work, but the issues in pricing consistency lost us before the work even started. Not even telling us that we’d be left with a 1” deep pit in our floor after was another huge issue which should’ve been brought up much earlier. This was our first experience with a contractor and I’m not sure if this is typical or not. However, it’s enough to make me doubt I’d contact them for any future work."

"Trig Builders is an excellent one-stop shop for mainly excellent design, great help in selecting final materials/accessories and mainly for any complete home remodeling. Our master bathroom and kitchen needed to be completely demolished and redesigned. Yossi met with us several times and by listening to us and to what we want to get, he was able to come up with a new concept that included all the ideas and goals of what we wanted to have and his design was very clean, modern while still be within our budget. Yossi also managed and handled all the orders and purchased of the materials and final accessories which caused us to write this review because this was an excellent service. The bathroom was gutted and after the demolition, Yossi and his guys discovered that the floor support beams were damaged so we had to replace them with new ones and to have the floor leveled before they could start the new construction. This problem caused the budget increased by a small cost (Yossi charged us only for the materials) for the overall budget. All the professional people that were involved in the work including the plumber, drywall man, electrician and tile man were excellent and skilled people that executed their part in a very high level of work results. They were very careful about all the cleaning aspect by dropping cloths, plastic wraps for the floors. The kitchen was completely redesigned and Yossi was able to include everything we wanted and needed. He went with us prior to the work and helped us purchasing all the materials appliances. The remodeling job was a week behind the original schedule because of the floor problem and due to few days when we had to leave the house for personal reasons on top of complications in getting the necessary inspections completed. We must mention here that any of the delays was not caused because of Trig Builders fault. We are very happy and satisfied with Yossi, the workers and all the skilled people and mainly Trig Builders as the company and we highly recommend them."

As you decide on what construction company will handle your project, donâ t be afraid to ask questions. Ask how long will it take to complete the project. Finally, lock down a price so there are no surprises at the end. Remember to be flexible when it comes to the timeframe, things happen (rain delays, illness building supplies out of stock). Also be aware that you will probably make changes to your plan, adding and subtracting items. This will affect the timeline and even the cost. "Fantastic. Not only is the end result superb but the process was as smooth and efficient as it could possibly have been. Gino consults you on everything, even after you’ve made the initial choice of cabinets, tile, countertop, scope of work, etc. He talks to you every day to update you. He has people working continuously, all organized so that no time is wasted. Once he started there was not a (week)day when his people weren’t working on my job, usually all day long. He has the work and teams organized and timed so that each one comes to your project as few days as possible, which reduces the cost. Gino is a stickler for detail, and getting everything exactly right, aesthetically and functionally, and the people he hires are very highly skilled with the same attitude. They’re also very clean. They sealed off the kitchen during the demolition so that the dust wouldn’t get to the rest of my open-plan condo. In construction they minimized particulate matter by doing all of the heavy cutting off-site. And they vacuumed the space every day before leaving! I’ve had contractors in several different cities and states and none came even close to this level of work, but it’s how remodeling should be! The price of my project was reasonable given the very high quality of the work, and the scope of work. Gino is very straight with you. The only costs that exceeded the estimate were due to my decisions to upgrade materials, or add a job to the project, and discovery of conditions in the existing structure that had to be upgraded (e.g., electrical). I’ve never been able to recommended a contractor before -- all the ones I’ve had have been so bad -- but I recommend Imperial Remodeling with two thumbs up."
