"The tile in the shower was done well, but the tile on the floor was not. The tile was uneven, grout missing and they put in the wrong drain cover. So, they came back and fixed it. The etched window in the shower that was caulked had mold growing under it. They came back and re-caulked it. The thermostat for the floor was not installed on it's own dedicated circuit, so an electrician has to come and fixed it."

"This was one of the best contractor experiences I've ever had.  John is a
very experienced and talented woodworker and is a very likable person.
We set an appointment for our first meeting/quote and about a week
before, we received a call inviting us to a local home show to meet
John, see his work and discuss our project.  Unfortunately, we weren't
able to attend, but the thought was very nice.
When the day came for our first meeting, John asked pertinent questions to
understand what we were looking for.  We needed a number of functional,
attractive units at a good price and as we walked around the house
describing our needs, John made suggestions as to what would fit best. A
number of times making money saving suggestions and options
when we weren't certain what we wanted.
Within days of our meeting he provided detailed drawings, a specific payment
schedule and an anticipated delivery date.  Throughout the entire
process, he stayed in communication, which was very much appreciated.
When John came to deliver and install our shelves, he and his crew were very
professional.  The shelves themselves are lovely and functional.  The
craftsmanship is evident and the units look like they've always been here.
I couldn't recommend John more highly and couldn't be happier with the shelves he made for us.  The quality of his work, his
customer service and his ease of style are all exceptional."

"We needed someone to replace our windows, and a friend recommended EDI, we called them and they responded very quickly and gave us a good price to replace all our windows. Having them working on that, we have decided to go ahead and replace floors, added also an interior paint and install new lights in our kitchen, living room, bedrooms and hallway. The place looks pretty much brand new now, all we have left to do is to renovate the bathrooms. We are very pleased with everything they have done for us."

"We recently had Mega Power Electric Inc install a solar system and panels. The President and provided excellent communication all the way through the process. He even met with us after installation to explain the almost incomprehensible PG&E bill. Although not the least expensive bid, his was competitive and I felt he was as interested in educating me about solar and the various types of panels and inverter systems as he was in selling a system. He demonstrated how the array of panels would meet our energy needs and as opposed to some of the other companies, wasn't selling us more than we needed. We are very satisfied with our solar system and I highly recommended Mega Power Electric Inc."

"Installer came to do template and was really messy. Hot glue everywhere. 2 weeks later new counters arrived. Same day trip and and install which was a plus. Overall happy with product. There was no follow up by sales staff and company requires close to 50 % down before work. Down payment, another fee for the template and remainder on install. Tile selection on site OK if you want the standard stone all the model homes are getting. I went with someone else for tile work. Installer was 5 hours late on day of install. Sent to do another job even though I was told I'd be first. So install went past 6 pm."

FAQs for laminate countertops installation projects in Stinson Beach, CA

With the right care and a professional installation, laminate counters last 10 to 15 years. Wipe up spills quickly, clean with a nonabrasive product, and keep hot pots off the surface to prevent warping or scorch marks. Limiting prolonged moisture at seams also pays off. Your installer can walk you through simple maintenance habits that will help you squeeze every year out of your new counters.

Yes—if the existing laminate is solid and level, a pro can bond a fresh sheet right on top. They’ll rough up the old surface, apply the correct adhesive, and make precise cuts so the new layer sits tight. Skipping steps can lead to bubbles or weak seams, so this project is best left to an experienced installer who has the tools to deliver a clean, durable finish.

Absolutely, you can give tired laminate a facelift with paint, tile, or a concrete overlay instead of a full tear-out. The key is thorough prep: clean, degrease, and lightly sand so the new finish sticks.

Follow the product instructions for primer, sealers, and cure times, or hire a pro if you’d rather avoid the mess. When done correctly, these updates freshen the look and add a few more years of useful life.

Mix baking soda with just enough water to form a paste, then spread it over the stain and let it sit for five minutes. Wipe away with a soft, damp cloth—don’t scrub, as abrasives can dull the surface. Repeat if needed. For stubborn marks, ask your installer about cleaners made specifically for laminate.

Laminate isn’t built to battle the elements. Water, UV rays, and temperature swings quickly cause swelling, fading, and mold. Even a covered patio won’t protect the material for long. If you’re planning an outdoor kitchen or bar, skip laminate and choose a weather-tough option like stone, tile, or concrete so you don’t end up replacing your counters after the first season.

Traditional laminate isn’t the greenest choice. Most sheets rely on plastics like melamine and can emit trace VOCs over time. They also can’t be recycled at the end of their life. A few brands now use recycled pulp cores, but plastics still make up much of the product.

If sustainability tops your list, consider natural or recyclable materials such as solid wood, stone, or recycled glass instead.
