"We hired Magic Landscaping, Marvin McCoy and his crew. Which did an amazing job giving us the marvelous gravel driveway. That we really wanted. Marvin was patient with us he was kind, friendly, and showed us what we could do. To achieve the look we wanted. It was excellent work and I was going to take pictures but it's dark outside. Magic landscaping is the way to go if you want excellent at Landscaping whatever the job is. Very good, a fine job. It was like 3-4 hours. We loved our gravel driveway. "

"This was the second time this year that we had work done by Peter Frazier. Earlier this year, he repaired a brick walkway which was missing much of the mortar. They did an excellent job repairing the walkway and matching the old mortar. In early fall we had some masonry repair and an old cracked concrete slab removed and had Peter pour a new concrete slab. Again, Peter and his team did an excellent job at a reasonable price. <br />"

"After searching for awhile for someone to repair the steps/railing leading into our house, PK Masonry was the only company that was willing to do the small job in a timely manner. When we met at my house to check out the job, we were given several options at a range of price points. Once a solution was decided, we were told the steps that would need to be taken for the most successful outcome. It was one of the easiest and stress free home repairs we have done in quit some time. Highly recommend."

"They were very professional allowing us to peruse their very large selection of granite and marble slabs on their office property. One selected they made a template of the proposed tops and showed us at the template review the best location for cuts and trim-outs. On the day of installation, they showed at the appointed time and finished the work with-in 3 hours. My wife and I are very pleased with the finished product."

"Very nice and professional. Realize that the offer is for about 5 cu yds of mulch and order extra depending on your needs. They spread the mulch for the same price I usually pay just for purchase and delivery of the same amount."

"I really had a great experience with Cutting Edge Landscaping. Getting a reputable landscaping company to show up for an estimate, or even provide an estimate after their visit, was a challenge. However Tim with CEL showed up as scheduled, gave me a fair price, and began work immediately once I was ready. He was professional and responsive, and his entire team was great. He addressed subsequent questions and concerns as well. I now have a beautiful Zoysia lawn, landscaping and lighting around my pool, which finished my backyard project. Highly recommended!"

"I really appreciated working with Matthew Underwood (owner) of Crescent Ridge Landscapes. He was very responsive and got out to our house very quickly after I called him to check out the problem and give us an estimate. Then they (a team of about 4, including the owner) were quick to come back (a day or 2 later) to actually fix it. We thought we had no water pressure going to the backyard sprinklers because of some horrible leak or something, but he was certain from his quick investigation that 4 of our sprinkler heads just needed to be replaced and our problem would be solved...and he was right. We didn't get other estimates because he was so easy to work with, but the fee seemed to be reasonable for the work done. We will use them again."

"Patrick is the man for the job if you want it done right and on time. Patrick refinished the old masonary exterior on our 1940's house. Before he worked on the home you could see old patches and inconsistent finishes from years of bad patch jobs and wear and tear. After the work was completed the exterior looked like new. Patrick was a good communicator regarding budget, timing and cost. He would always keep us updated as the next steps and when he would be there to work. We did run into one snag when the forces of mother nature sent a huge storm our way the day the work was completed. One side of the house was not completely dry and the rain was so intense it flooded over the gutters and washed away some of the texture and color. We called Patrick the next morning, told him what happened and he came right over. We thought it might be a patch job to fix what had been damaged. To ensure the quality of the job Patrick informed us he really needed to redo the entire process for that side of the house. He could have patched it and gone the cheaper and easier route but he did not. He worked another few days making the job right and did not charge us anymore than his original quote. He is a craftsmen, with fine attention to detail. I highly recommended Taylor Stucco, could not be more pleased with his work ethics. <br />"

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Stockbridge, GA

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
