"A few nights before Thanksgiving, we noticed water leaking through a crack in the basement foundation. We quickly realized (because of the smell) that this was not rain run off but some kind of trouble with our sewer line. We managed to cope till Thanksgiving Dinner was over, then we looked on Angie's List for a plumber. I called Topnotch on Thanksgiving evening - I wasn't expecting someone to come right out, but hoped to make an appointment for the next day. Sam answered the phone and apologized that he was not available till Monday, but offered to recommend someone else. We decided to wait and he came out Monday, discovered a clog in the drain, cleared it and then put a camera in the drain and discovered a crack in the sewer line about 6 feet from the house. That was the source of the leakage through the foundation. He recommended inserting a liner which would have been about $2000 cheaper than digging up the pipe section. We scheduled the work, he arrived with his team and as they were inserting the liner, it became obvious that not only was the pipe cracked, but also separated and the offset of the separation prevented the liner from going in. He offered an alternative liner that might have reduced the pipe width and risked future clogs or the option of digging it up. We decided to dig it up. The work was completed a few weeks later. Sam kept us well informed throughout and the work was performed relatively neatly (its kind of tough to do this kind of work pristinely). After filling in the drain access ditch and patching the concrete covering it, he had some cement left over and volunteered to patch with it an unrelated part of our driveway. Nice touch. We didn't get alternate estimates, so I can't opine on the cost, but based on web browsing, the pricing was competitive. We are satisfied and would recommend Topnotch to others."

"Replaced a few outside hose spigots.. He also disconnected an unused water softener that was tied into the main water line of house. His work was clean and he took the time to do the work properly. HE did not rush the job. I'd call them again for plumbing needs."

"Mark was effective and professional. After examining the situation he charged us half the original fee as only half the work needed to be done. The spigot looks great and his assistant tightened up a loose hose without even being asked. Terrific guys."

"Mike, the father of this family owned business for 35 plus years, responded to my call that day, reviewed the project and gave me the best alternatives to my collapsed sewer line. The proposals I received from two other contractors and five plumbers, including my X-plumber, were more expensive, destructive to my house, lawn and maybe (probably) the street. In most towns the homeowner is responsible for the street. Mike gave me the best price for the whole job from inside my house to the main sewer line in the street without a song and a dance. When things went south because the sewer department failed to mark the correct location of their sewer line Mike's two sons, who where both on my job, had to locate it to hook me up. My job had this crew going above and beyond for me, without any excuses or extra charges. Mike's Sons stayed with me all the way on this job, did what had to be done and brought it home. I had been forced to campout for the last 2 1/2 weeks! When I say Mike gave me the best price for the best alternative, Mike knew I had been unemployed for 1 1/2 years and a very tight budget. THANKS MIKE!"

FAQs for drain line breakage camera locate projects in Stony Point, NY

French drain repairs generally include cleaning to remove clogs or replacing damaged pipes. Drain cleaning costs between $150 and $200 per hour. If replacement is necessary, the cost to install a French drain can run up to $5,000, depending on its type and location.

Trenchless sewer replacement costs between $60 and $250 per foot but is usually not an option for interior plumbing lines. Plumbers typically only use this approach for outside sewer pipes.

Unless you can see a clog through a drain or cracked pipe under a sink, you may be unable to identify its location. To find the problem, your plumber may test your water pressure at specific points or use a sewer camera.

Common signs that a drain pipe requires repair include slowly draining water, backups, regular clogs, strange gurgling sounds, or foul odors from the drain. Also, contact a plumber if you can see rust or oxidation on a drain pipe under the sink or in the basement.

The cost to repair a sink drain pipe can be as low as $100, covering the cost of a plumber’s labor for one to two hours. If the pipe needs to be replaced or is difficult to access, costs could climb up to $500.
