"I had requested quotes from 5 different vendors. I had prices ranging from 1800-5000. Alan and Paul from South Florida Screen where the only ones that had great communication and did a thorough job in estimating my project. From each of the vendors I asked each to give me an estimate of everything they thought could be fixed with my enclosure. South Florida Screen was the only one that truly delineated every detail and found issues that others did not like one of the tie down cables. Their price was the most competitive. They also returned all my phone calls quickly. The day of the work, all went according to plan and my pool patio was left clean and tidy. Highly recommended. Great team."

The workers were quick, respectful of my property, and they really know what they are doing. I am very pleased with the whole process and quality of the work and products."

"Hired Ed Ryan to enclose a large rear porch and convert it into two bedrooms and a small home office and a 23 foot by 7 foot rear patio. Ed was very professional and easy to work with. He was really good about keeping us informed sharing the good and bad news as the project progressed. We are very pleased with end result. The project took longer than we had planned but it was because of delays with the city's plan approval process. We almost did not choose him because he was the low bidder out of five we interviewed. So glad we did. Quality work, fair price, and easy to work with. We recommend him."

"I needed to replace my deteriorating screen porch enclosure. I initially contacted a different company that one of my neighbors had used and received a quote, but when I asked some questions about the quote they decided they were too busy to do the job. <br> <br>I found Screen Builders on Angie's List. I contacted them via e-mail and received a quick response. Most of my communication with them was via e-mail, mostly with Debbie Demarco. Debbie was usually pretty quick to reply to e-mail. Jim came out to get measurements for a quote about a week after I first contacted Screen Builders, and Debbie e-mailed me the quote the next day. It was quite a bit higher than the previous quote I had received, but included better materials and a building permit. I asked Debbie about an Angie's List discount, and she told me she would give me a discount when I'm ready, but didn't tell me how much. When I pressed her, she told me she would give me a $150 discount. I decided to go with Screen Builders rather than looking for a third quote. <br> <br>Debbie e-mailed me the contract and paperwork I needed to get HOA approval for the work, and I obtained HOA approval within a couple of days. Debbie then asked me to send her the signed contract with a deposit (50%), which I did. A day or two later, I received a hard copy of the original (unsigned) contract in the mail, and Debbie said I needed to sign and return that one too, along with a survey. I e-mailed her a survey from my closing and mailed the signed contract. Several days later I received more paperwork in the mail, needed to get a building permit, so I signed those forms and mailed them back. It would have been a lot easier if I had received all the paperwork at once so I could mail everything back together. I mentioned to Debbie that I was going to be out of town for a week, so if she needed anything from me, to let me know before then. <br> <br>While I was away, I received a voicemail message from one of the engineers (a different Jim) who wanted to take final measurements for the enclosure. The message said Jim was planning to come the same day, a couple of hours later. I called him back and told him I was out of town so he couldn't come until the following week. He said he would let the office know and they would get back to me the following Monday to reschedule. <br> <br>I didn't hear from anyone, so I contacted Debbie about a week later, and she told me they were still waiting for the building permit. About a week after that I contacted Debbie again to ask about the permit; I also told her that I would be out of town again, and the work would need to be completed in about two weeks from that point, otherwise they would have to wait I was back. The next day Debbie informed me that they got the permit and they would schedule someone to take final measurements. Jim #2 contacted me the next day and came out the following day to take measurements. A few days later I was called to schedule the actual work, so we scheduled it for two days later. <br> <br>I was expecting the crew to arrive between 9:00-9:30 that morning, and the crew of one (Israel) arrived around 8:30. I asked him if anyone else was joining him, but he said this job only required one person. I brought him around back to the porch, and the first thing he said was that he didn't know he was also removing an enclosure (even though that was on the contract). He said he could handle it, and got right to work. <br> <br>The work took about 4 hours. The quality of the new enclosure is much better than the original one, and seems to be installed very securely. There are a few minor cosmetic issues with the alignment of the center horizontal beam, but not enough to bother anyone. The screen door sticks a little when you open it, but it's not a big deal. Israel cleaned everything up really well and didn't mess up any of the landscaping or mulch outside the enclosure. <br> <br>Overall, I think the quality of the work and materials was very good. I thought Screen Builders was a bit disorganized and could have done a better job keeping me up to date, but at least they responded quickly to my e-mails. I would consider using them again, but I would also get a quote from one of the other highly-rated providers on Angie's List before making that decision. <br> <br>"

"I got the quote in early December and made my deposit at that time. The permit came through rather quickly (WOW) and the job started within 6 weeks of my first contact. The workers who came out did a great job and their craftsmanship was excellent. I cannot say enough positive things about this company, from Ray, the salesman who gave me my quote, to the office support staff who helped me make last minute changes to the craftsmen who came out to build the actual room. Many kudos to a fine company - who do exactly what they say they will do. Many many thanks!!! <br />"

"Calling Karoly Windows & Doors, I kept regular communication with Danalyn and Cindy. Talking with them was not only necessary, but pleasant. They were always helpful and timely in addressing any question or concerns that I might have had. Karoly came out to the property which consisted of a front house and a separate mother-in-law apartment for a free estimate of PGT windows and front door replacement. He took measurements throughout the property, then tested the buildings for lead-based paint. A few days later he emailed me an estimate and a timeline of the project; I agreed with his proposal. The proposal stated it would take X amount of time for the windows to be fabricated from the manufacturer. The time came for the window to arrive but were not available yet. Karoly offered an explanation that the manufacturer was deluged with big client orders and that they were behind schedule. He suggested that we should wait another week and if the windows were still not available he would get me window from another manufacturer - Simonton for the same quoted price - I quickly agreed to that! I ended up getting the Simonton windows. His crew came out and with no nonsense work ethic installed my windows (including picture window) and door. They cleaned up after themselves and I am very happy about the entire process."

"Immediately returned my phone calls. Showed up when he was supposed to. Did the work as agreed upon. Price was reasonable.  When I called him I thought I needed new doors. When he came out to estimate, he said the doors were fine and just needed new hardware. Saved me a good bit of money by doing that. Would recommend he and his son's professionalism. <br />"

FAQs for sunroom or patio enclosure building service projects in Stuart, FL

A sunroom is a fully enclosed space with walls of windows or glass. It allows you to enjoy the outdoors from the comfort of the indoors, protected from bugs and weather. It functions as an additional room in your home. A covered patio extends your home's roof over an outdoor area, providing shade and shelter while remaining open to the fresh air. It's a great way to enjoy outdoor living while being protected from sun and rain.

Adding screens to your porch is the most budget-friendly way to enclose it. Screening keeps out insects and debris while letting you enjoy the breeze and outdoor ambiance. It's less expensive than installing full walls or glass enclosures and doesn't usually require permits, making it an efficient way to upgrade your porch.

If you're transforming your porch into a fully enclosed living space like a sunroom, you'll likely need a sturdy foundation, such as a reinforced concrete slab, to support the structure. For a simple screened-in porch, you might be able to use the existing floor and support posts without additional foundation work. It's best to consult a professional to determine what's needed for your project.

An enclosed porch can be considered a living space if it's fully enclosed with solid walls and windows, has a proper roof, and includes heating and cooling systems. It should also have direct access from inside your home. When these criteria are met, the space becomes an extension of your home's livable area.
