"I feel it went very good. He was very hard worker who came every day and worked a solid 7-8 hours daily. The installation came out better then I expected and along the time line he had given me it would. I wouldn’t choose a different contractor. I had interviewed roughly five others before deciding on Pepe and I’m glad I did."

"Excellent work performed by Mata Paving. Our existing driveway was torn out completely and replaced. Belgium block was installed on both sides of the driveway and we had work done to our window well, at the same time. The work was done efficiently and with genuine care. This company prides itself on doing top notch work and it shows in our driveway. We received an extremely fair price and feel fortunate to have a company that puts in extra effort to beautify others' homes. Our time frame was also kept in mind, and the owner made sure we had our driveway done by the time we requested. Great advice was given along the way and communication with the other was never an issue, as calls were always picked up and/or returned immediately. We would recommend Mata Paving, hands down, for your next job, You will not be disappointed."

"I have an approximately 1100 sq ft driveway that had a couple of stress cracks that needed to be filled and sealed. Called Sealpro after seeing their rating on Angie's list and had them come over for an estimate. Today they filled and sealed my drive and it looks like new. Great job! <br />"

"Brian and his crew did a excellent job in planting three big trees in my backyard. I am very happy with the quality of the work, and the services they provided. They are professional tree guys. They provided quality trees, dig twice size holes, put quality soil in the holes and then put two sticks on the tree side to fasten it, finally put multch around the trees! The new trees look beautiful in my yard. A+ landscaper! Brian also has good knowledge about tree cares and he is patient with questions!"

"Consultation began in May / June and finessed up in August/September. Easy to work with - offered many options to adjust to my price range and goals for Front and rear yard overhaul. Deer were eating a % of what was planted and the team responded with new alternatives until the eating stopped. I watch how the plants responded to winter and was surprised most actually returned. Those that did not were replaced during the annual mulching session. The team did a wonderful - very responsive and I highly recommend their services."

"Everything went very smoothly and efficiently. They were very punctual and arrived timely each morning to continue the work to completion. Communication was nothing short of excellent. Whenever we had questions or considered making changes we had a response almost immediately. We particularly liked the fact that they were very careful to protect floors and the adjoining bedroom from dust and pieces of debris. Both my wife and I had cause to be away from the house on one particular day and we felt confident in trusting them to have a key to the house so that they could work without disruption. I'm very happy to say that that we were not disappointed and I would have no reservations about entrusting them to work without someone being home. In short, we now have a beautiful customer shower enclosure and we only await the glass people to make and install the surrounding barrier. I will be tearing up and installing a new deck on the house this spring or summer and will hire MC Home Improvements once again without hesitation. Truly a class outfit with quality work in mind. I've already decided that when I replace our deck, I will hire them to do the demo and installation."

"Despite Jamar’s consistently great reviews I was a little apprehensive of the whole project: all 19(!) windows need to be replaced, will it require an extensive painting project afterword? How will it look outside? We could not be happier with the outcome of the project. The windows look great inside the house and outside. Even though we choose the narrow windows frames, after they were masterfully installed it only required several touch ups here and there (if you really picky). During the project, the rooms the guys have worked in were always left clean, the equipment was neatly stored. But it didn’t stop there! They also helped us solve the roof leaking problem and replaced several damaged siding planks around 2 windows. Thank you Jim, Greg and the whole crew. If we ever need siding or/and front door replacements we know who will we call. ?"

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Summit, NJ

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
