"<p>Cutting down the tree and cutting back the lilac bush was completed first.  We were very pleased with how he cleaned up after himself each day.  He repaired the patio door easily and in about 15 minutes.  The shed was completed and we were pleased with it.  We are still waiting for him to come back and grind out the stump from the tree.</p> <p>The only negative thing I would have to say is that Jim is hard to get in touch with.  I would leave voice mail messages because he rarely, if ever, answers his phone.  Which, if he is at your location, doing work for you, it is understandable that he puts his focus on the project at hand and not answering the phone.  However, I would have expected a call back first thing the next day before he would go to the work site.  It usually took several days and my leaving multiple messages for him to respond.  He likes to use email for his responses and I get that he can shoot off an email and go about his day, but it doesn't help the client if his response only leads to other questions and then I would have to wait for another response to those questions.  It was a bit frustrating.</p> <p>But, all in all , we were pleased with his work.  He is quite meticulous in his carpentry work.  Our neighbors were happy to tell us all about what went on while we were at work!  They all seemed very impressed with how well he measured and leveled and worked.</p> <br />"

"Will is the man! We met a few times to discuss design ideas and a based on my very vague inputs, he put together two complete master plans for the entire lot. He also hired an excellent landscaping company to complete the work and checked in repeatedly during the process to ensure that everything was going according to plan. I am extremely pleased with the results -- a yard that was once an eyesore and a constant source of frustration is now quite beautiful and calming. Will's choices of plants and materials were perfect and they work together in the space exceptionally well. And the service he provided throughout the entire process was impeccable. "Mr. Workman always took my calls, worked with us when we weren't sure of the type of fence we wanted and always kept his meetings. Columbus had a very wet spring and that delayed starting the work but, even though it was too wet for him to use his equipment, he and his son hand-carried all the concrete and fence through the trees and mud in order to finish the job so we and our dogs could move in. The slope of the land made one side of the main gate so high off the ground that the dogs might get through. Mr. Workman was able to make a special piece that bridged that gap and still allowed the gate to function.. It may be a small operation but they gave us top service, even avoiding a neighbor's flowers that were on our property. They were also very good about cleaning up after their work. We were unsure if we wanted to spend that much but, now that the job is done, we are glad we did."

"They did a fine job with the work.  The pump install wasn't ideal (the pipe was exposed above the water level when it should've been below, etc), but the pond was cleaned as expected.  The trouble, as my "grade" indicates, was with the company's responsiveness.  We were on a tight time schedule (putting the house on the market) and I was grateful that Jake had time in his schedule to come out and give us an estimate and was going to be able to get the work done quickly.  Unfortunately, he missed the estimate appointment.  He had it written down on the wrong day.  That was frustrating when I was waiting in an empty house on a morning I took off work, but it happens & it's forgivable.  Jake was courteous and professional when he did arrive.  He said the estimate would be emailed that evening, but when it didn't arrive for a few days I emailed him and he then got me the estimate.  Again, forgivable, but added to the missed appointment, I almost didn't use them.  I needed the work done quickly and without a hassle.  At the estimate he'd said they could get the work done before the weekend, but then weren't able to schedule it until a few days later (because, I think, he hadn't accounted for giving the pump time to arrive).  Eventually, he did send his team (two guys who did the work while I wasn't there) & they did a fine job. <br /> I've found that "pond guys" tend to have a very relaxed attitude toward the business side of their businesses.  Jake did not prove me wrong.  In the end, they did a fine job with a task that I didn't want to do myself.   <strong>I'm happy with the work.</strong>  But if we weren't selling the house, I might keep searching for the perfect pond person -- or I might just make sure I wasn't in a rush to get things done. <br />"

"The Holderby Brothers run a good business and they seek long-term relationships with homeowners.  This is a good approach and results in a better understanding of the needs of the client.  In my case, I have had them do "handy" work like handing new lights, installing custom chair rails and wainscoting, as well as larger projects like my Stacked Stone custom wall.  They come out a walk the space, which is a process for homeowner to present vision and needs, budget, etc.  Then they provide a written quote with materials, labor and price.  Be sure to ask for separate quotes if you have them look at multiple projects in same visit.  I liked this approach because I was able to prioritize and budget for each project and then decide which ones to start and when. <br /> They are very low-pressure, and will offer flexibility to allow you to bring your own products or have them procure the materials. One example of this was in doing the concrete backer drywall for my wall.  They recommended that, and the result is a sturdier installation!  The owners are very involved, if they use full-time workers or if the special need is to bring in a sub-contractor.   <br /> They are very comfortable with current technology...you can sign things electronically, get receipts to your email, send photos of your desired look (i used a lot of pinterest photos,,,haha), and have an office staff that is available and responsive. <br /> Overall, great company. <br />"
