"We had Vic do a big landscaping job w/retaining wall and lights in front of our house. He did an AMAZING job! We were all impressed with him and his crew. They were professional, respectful, punctual, reasonably priced and Vic gave me great ideas on how to design the landscaping. It turned out so good! In fact, many of our neighbors have hired him to do their landscaping since they saw what he did with our front yard. The following summer, Vic Completed another wonderful landscaping job on the side of house, garden area. This side is directly facing the street and we had so many people stop and tell us that we had the most beautiful landscaping in the sub…TRUTH!! Next summer, i want Vic to work on the backyard area and put up retaining walls as well…i honestly can’t wait!! I highly recommend Vic!! ?"

"This company did a wonderful job on the pavers for the patio. It seem to be a difficult job due to the slope we have in the back yard. They executed the job great. We are very happy with the results. I would recommend them to my family and friends any day."

"Midwest Lightscapes is not the most inexpensive option, but it is tough to imagine a better one.  And despite the higher price point, you will still feel like you are getting value. <br /> Bud and Jane are efficient and professional.  They provide a full "at dusk" demonstration of the lighting plan based on the design they architect with you.  Their lighting scheme for your home is smart, beautiful, even revelatory, and the lighting equipment they install is gorgeous and of very high quality.  Outstanding on all accounts.  We were supremely satisfied and would recommend Midwest Lightscapes to anyone interested. <br />"

"Entire experience from start to finish was excellent. Company representatives were all friendly and professional. Services were performed in a very timely fashion. I am not sure how many local companies have much experience with soapstone, but these guys definately did. They had the soapstone in their inventory, which I liked. I didn't pick out the specific slabs, but I did view their slabs in the wharehouse. I was very pleased with how the countertops turned out. A lot of granite companies say they have experience with soapstone but I'm not sure they really do."

"<p>Mat was very prompt in contacting us. Provided great deign ideas. We talked to 4 other providers - none of whom provided good plans.  Our project was a challenge. We had cut down a big area of weed trees and scrub. That left essentially a marshy /wet terrain. His plan has elevated to land, provided  improved drainage and an attractive landscape. So far a  dozen new trees are taking root.  Can't tell you how excited we are to have a new back yard.    </p> <p>Matt is very good at keeping in touch with details and work schedules. We recommend him to anyone with a </p> <p>project that requires knowledge of trees, terrain, and esthetics.   Although we collaborated with Matt- in retrospect we  probably would have a great result had we just turned all the decision making over to him. </p> <p>Can't say enough nice things about the process and result. </p> <br />"

"PMS has done this clean/seal for us three times now.  Every time has been excellent service.  Steve, the General Manager, came out to give us a quote within about a week of my first call.  He arrived right on time and prepared the quote quickly.  He then explained in detail what they would be doing.  He originally said it would be a couple of weeks before they could get to this job. But when I told him that we had a party coming up in about 10 days and asked if they could at least do the repair and cleaning, he said they could.  He sent a crew out the next day to do the repairs and clean the pavers, then the following day to do the sealing.  The crews were very professional, explaining what they were going to do and then verifying that I was happy with the job.   My patio now looks brand new.  It's beautiful! <br />"

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Taylor, MI

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
