"Excellent work, professional, punctual and very friendly. Purchase and installation of large dog door in wall plus made a platform for ease of entering and existing for my short legged fur babies. Will definitely use again for future projects. We (Ellie, Pascal and me) sure appreciate your great work. Thanks again."

"Mr Lopez and crew did fantastic job creating a level outdoor patio space, including ramp, that allows access for me using walker or scooter when my hip acts up and I cannot walk without help. He took my design and made it work beautifully despite tree roots and rocky soil. They were wonderful to work with. "

"Lico responded to me immediately and explained that if I gave him approximate sizes for the windows, he would provide an email estimate. Once I sent the sizes, he sent the estimate right away. When we chose to use this company, the measurer/installer contacted me within a day. Within a few days, they had measured and provided screen samples. A week or so later, the work was completed. There were a few issues I wanted addressed, and they responded immediately! Within a day, the installer returned and took care of the issues to my great satisfaction."

"Setting up the appointment was quick and easy.   Two men came exactly at the appointed time -- one worked on the inside and one on the outside.   They meticulously removed each screen and cleaned each window and screen.  Completed the job quickly -- in about 2 hours -- and were very professional and courteous.   They did a tremendous job in making the windows very clean and sparkling.   We set up a 6-month follow up appointment with them.  Definitely recommend them to others.   They did qualify work. <br />"

"When I bought my house 7 years ago, it had good Pella replacement windows, but for who knows what reason 3 windows in the main living area had no screens. No frame, nothing. I have been tryi ng of and on over the ensuing years to find someone to take care of this. This effort has resulted in nothing more than a bunch of unreturned phone calls. Even Pella wanted no part. After a few calls to them with no response I got lucky and the owner of the local Pella store answered the phone. While he was very friendly, even he said he didn’t think Pella manufactured their own screens, but he promised he would get on the person who’s job it was to know and hadle such issues, and make sure she called me. That never happened. I was probably 5 years into this quest when I actually got to speak to a real person on the phone, who clued me in that only Pella screens fit Pella windows, which may be the reason no one wanted my business. So that’s the frustrating backstory. Finally I contacted Terry at Action Screens. He responded immediately and came out the next day to look at my windows and take measurements. A week later he returned with screens, which fit perfectly and matched the rest of the windows. Over the years of trying to get this done, while I couldn’t find anyone to the job, I got a pretty good idea of what the various companies that didn’t want the job would have charged if they WOULD do the job. (Which, of course they wouldn’t,) implying that if they WOULD have done it, they would have charged significantly more than their posted price. Which brings me to another great thing about Action Screens: Terry’s price was roughly HALF of what I expected to have to pay. Roughly what Pella would charge up front just to send someone out to my house...if they would would even return my call... which they didn’t. To sum up, Action Screens were friendly, responsive, professional, and very reasonably priced. I would most definitely hire again, and highly recommend."

FAQs for door or window screens install or repair projects in Taylor, TX

Most off-the-shelf screens come in fixed sizes, ranging from 18 inches by 20 inches to 36 inches by 74 inches, which fit the vast majority of residential windows. If your opening falls outside that range or has a unique shape, you’ll need a custom screen built to the exact measurements. Going custom ensures a secure fit, a solid barrier against bugs, and a clean, finished look.

The decision to repair or replace your screen depends on the extent of the damage. Small holes or tears in otherwise solid mesh can be patched, and a sturdy frame usually doesn’t need to go anywhere. However, once the frame is bent or the mesh is brittle and fraying in several spots, replacement becomes a more sensible option—and often proves to be less costly in the long run. Take a close look at both parts before making a decision.

To rescreen a window, start by prying out the old spline, then lift the torn mesh from the frame. Lay the new screen over the frame, allowing about an inch of excess on all sides, and hold it in place while pressing fresh spline into the groove with a roller. Check that the mesh is taut—many pros rest a small brick on it while they work—then trim the overhang with a utility knife.

Most window screens last for 10 to 12 years. Time, sun, and weather gradually make the mesh brittle, so you’ll start to see sagging, rips, or thinning spots that let bugs get through. Check the screens each season; if the mesh crumbles or the frame warps, it’s time to replace them to keep air flowing and pests outside.

Most pros can swap out a screen in 10 minutes to an hour. A quick pop‑in replacement goes fastest, while fitting new mesh into an existing frame or working on a hard‑to‑reach upper window adds time. Either way, plan for at least a few extra minutes per screen so the installer can verify the fit and ensure the spline is seated correctly.
