"Tommy kept his appointment for a bid for a chip seal of our 1700 sf, 15 year old driveway and provided a bid within range of other bids collected. He was able to start immediately with equipment and a crew adequate for the job. All his equipment and trucks were branded with a company name. The job was done within 4 hours and Tommy cleaned up his work area. Professional!"

"Brandon and crew were great and really paid attention to detail. I would highly recommend them for any job large or small. I am in the commercial construction business but chose Brandon for my home driveway project. Awesome job and will use them on larger jobs now that I know them."

"Rolando and his team did an outstanding job.  Gilda in the office provided excellent communication throughout the project.  They used some materials that I already had and then helped find other materials as well.  I ended up running short on some brick and they were able to locate nearly identical brick from another job and GAVE IT TO ME to help finish out my project. <br /> The team worked quickly and the quality of their work was very good.  I would definitely use Austin Stonescapes again. <br />"

"This team is awesome, Rusty is very easy to speak to and we were on the page immediately with this project. We had to have the entry sidewalk and driveway replaced we agreed upon a price and with a ten percent down payment we were on his schedule. He and his team arrived two days later as scheduled ,on time, on Friday and went right to work early in the morning with hammer in hand they broke up the sidewalk and used their Front Loader to assist in breakup the driveway. By that afternoon they had the broken concrete loaded in a dump-truck and gone. They installed the ground barrier and rebar and went home for the weekend and much needed rest. Monday Rusty and his team arrived on schedule and they began laying the mud and were finished by the mid afternoon. His team of three kept the area clean as possible and were meticulous. Very Professional work and courteous I just stayed out of their way and watch in amazement. This is a 5 Star Concrete and Excavation business we would call upon again. Thank You Rusty and your crew!"

"After moving into a new home, I hear the patter of little paws in the attic.  This cost covered inspection of the attic, roof and sides of the house.  They attached heavy duty metal grates on all vents in the attic or other possible entry points.  They put cages in the attic and came back several times to check for animals.  Luckily there were not any in the house, but we then put cages outside, where a possum was caught.  The squirrels, which must be smarter than the possum, were not caught, but have not made another appearance in the house.  The cost was high but this is the initial set up cost and any repeat service needed throughout the year.  A much smaller yearly renewal fee (around $150) will continue to give you the same service for following years. <br /> I then added the Pest Control Service as well which has several different prices depending on size of house and yard.  They bill monthly for these services.  They are a bit pricey compared to other companies, but will come anytime you need them at no additional charge. <br /> This cost covered inspection of the attic, roof and sides of the house.  They attached heavy duty metal grates on all vents in the attic or other possible entry points.  They put cages in the attic and came back several times to check for <br />"

"After last summer's drought, my 36' X 8' strip of grass ("backyard") was reduced to weeds and large patches of dead grass. I wanted to make this area into a useable space for outdoor entertaining. Ed Patrick came by to give me an estimate (I got 3 in all from various folks), and he was extremely knowlegable about how paving would work in my situation, and recommended a particular type and color of sandstone that would match the color of my house. He recommended and explained how he would install a "french drain" and a permeable weed barrier that would comply with Austin area requirements. He provided CAD drawings and description for my HOA to approve, and offered more information and help with getting the approval if needed. After approval, he and his workers came out and did all the work admirably. They were professional and polite. They checked the stone colors with me, and Shelley in the office regularly checked in with me on how the project was proceeding and if all was OK. There was some delay in completing the project because of unexpected downpours of rain, but as soon as the weather cooperated, Ed and his workmen finished the job and again checked to make sure I was satisfied. They left me with additional finishing stones for the edge, should some be washed away by weather, and also a container of pulverized granite to replenish the material between the stones as it weathers away over time. When it turned out that I only needed one step from the patio instead of two, he credited me with the cost difference. They cleaned up afterwards, and even added some soil where there was a low spot at the gate entrance. Ed also offered to take me to a landscape nursery when I am ready to purchase pots and containers and plants. As a registered landscaper, he can help me design my container/plant lay-outs, and use his truck to transport them to my place. Ed and Shelley could not have been nicer or more helpful. I highly recommend these folks."

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Taylor, TX

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
