"The service was excellent. Talking to Gregg on the phone made me feel informed and in control of the process. He outlined all of my options for windshield repair and was able to schedule the replacement at my next convenient opportunity.
He arrived on time and replaced the windshield quickly and professionally. He was very experienced and has been doing windshield repair since 1979. While I certainly would have trusted him to complete the process on his own, I actually ended up watching him complete the process and chatting with him. He's an interesting guy with a lot of character.
I was so pleased with the service that I passed the recommendation on to my AAA agent and will be writing positive reviews here and elsewhere on the web.

"Replacing the staircase light fixture was a difficult job requiring the use of a ladder, a step ladder and an aluminum plank to create a level workspace in order to access the light. The new pendant was lowered by 6 inches, compared to the old one, to allow easy exchange of light bulbs. The electrician was creative in solving some installation problems.  He also saved me some money by advising me that some other electrical work I was considering might not be necessary."

"Mr. Hal Morris was responsive, detailed and kept us informed of the project. He provided us with a plan, followed through and answered our questions. He was also open to trying new material, copper, to the lattice panels. He also was so kind and installed four steel hooks so we could hang additional plants."

"Excellent service and professional staff. Completed work according to contract and did so in a timely fashion. Would never hesitate to call them again or recommend them to family and friends. They also took care of contacting inspectors and getting us a rebate from the electric company."

"Sean is the most considerate contractor I've ever hired. Truly a hidden gem, a stellar electrician, and my go-to for any future electric needs. I hired him to upgrade my electric panel and hook up a new hot tub, which included adding an outdoor breaker, trenching, permitting, etc. Besides being more affordable than other electricians we got estimates from, he listened to us, and was able to clearly communicate every aspect of the work, and how he would approach it. His clear communication was crucial for us, as other electricians we spoke to gave us contradicting information that either didn't make sense or left us more confused than when we started. Once the work began, he always arrived when he said he would, communicated about everything right away, and was thoughtful / respectful of our home. Sean goes above and beyond with his work, and his care of his customers. I cannot recommend him enough!"

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Taylors Falls, MN

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
