"It was awesome! I received a call @7:15 a.m. the next day after applying via Angie's List. CJ was professional and kind. He came to my home to give me an estimate the same week and I received a quote the very same day. He was very punctual, and. his crew were very professional. our driveway was completed including the tear out of the existing driveway within 3 days. I highly recommend 360 Construction to anyone who needs their driveway replaced. God Bless You CJ and crew!"

"My wife and I could not be happier with the work and the professionalism of The Concrete Man and his people. We highly recommend them. First, I want to note that my wife and I have done a lot of work on our house over the years, including a complete three-story addition that doubled the living space of our house. We consider ourselves very experienced when it comes to hiring professionals and gauging the quality of their work. This job was straightforward. We needed a 10 foot, octagonal concrete pad placed as a foundation for a gazebo we intended to install. The concrete pad was to be located in the back corner of our property and due to a fence and a detached garage, there was no way to bring equipment back to the exact jobsite. We first met Steve who quoted the job. In spite of the COVID restrictions, he maintained the kind of friendly professionalism that you want to see in a contractor. The quote was ready for us directly, but because of unrelated work on our part, we delayed our acceptance. In fact, we lost the quote and I had to return to Angies List to try to find the contractor again. In spite of the delay, Steve remembered who we were and our project and, in fact, lined our project up with another project in the area for simplicity and efficiency. We needed the pad by a certain date, and he beat that date by a week. The team who arrived to do the work was simply outstanding. They were very attentive to our specific requirements. They were very patient in explaining our options. Finally, once they finished, they performed the single best jobsite cleanup that I have ever witnessed. My backyard was cleaner than it was before they got there. I highly recommend this company. I will hire them again."

"Quickly. The crew of 7 arrived early and stayed late to get the project completed within two days. They dug a trench along the exterior walls of the basement, put drain tile in, covered it with 1/2" rock, then filled it with concrete. Along with this, they also installed a new sump pump which was included with the price. The concrete and dirt was taken out to a dumpster they brought and put in our driveway. Cleanup was fairly good, considering what they did. The only issue we had was when they were leaving, we asked if they would come back and put the work benches back in place after the concrete dried. When we got our estimate, the person we spoke with said they would put everything back. I specifically asked if they would put the work benches back (there are 5 work benches), and he said they'd put everything back as it was before. The head of the crew said they would come back the following week after another job and put them back, but when I called to schedule it, I was told it was not part of the agreement, that they didn't usually do that, and they could do it for an additional fee. This was very disappointing because we are seniors (89 and 71) and can't possibly move those work benches ourselves. Other than that, the workmanship and product used were very good and we would use them again."

"Richard and his crew were very professional, timely, and courteous.  His crew were great with our two big enthusiastic dogs (making sure they closed the gates, cleaned up the back yard so there wasn't any garbage they could get into.)  They worked on Saturdays as well.  We had some unforeseen issues with rotting boards behind the drywall in the basement and Richard made sure that they were handled quickly and repaired.  We felt that the work was well done and that he was honest the entire time with us.  We would use Yellow Square Cooperation again without hesitation. <br />"

"The project went great! We provided a drawing with the square footage of the new porch and walkway. Bud's requested a deposit and started the work as soon as the weather made it possible. The project was completed in a couple of days and Bud modified the design as needed in collaboration with our landscape architect. We are pleased with the results."

"<p>I am a second time customer for Alvarez Brick Paving.  2 years ago they created a beautiful patio, that still looks like the day they completed the job.  </p> <p>The front steps to my house were in horrible condition, so I reached out to Juan Alvarez again.  As always, he did not disappoint, all I had to do was pick the stone.  </p> <p>His team was on time, worked diligently, and when the job was done cleaned up. </p> <p>My steps look absolutely amazing!  Another great job by Juan and team!</p> <p>Gina  </p> <p><br></p> <p><br></p>"

"While the preliminary phase of getting in touch was sketchy enough to make me dubious about whether this was a viable business--particularly when I've had horrendous concrete experiences in the past, and I was forced to replace a front stoop that was newly installed less than 10 years ago, I'm so glad I decided to choose Mike Nitti. In fact, I gave up on them when they didn't show up for an estimate, but they did the estimate soon after that date and left it for me, and it was a reasonable price for replacing my front stoop, and after checking Angie's List and getting personal recommendations, I accepted their offer. <br /> <br /> They showed up on time to actually do the work, and they were amazing in their attention to detail! They arrived with the city permit in-hand, and everything went very well, including multiple City inspections at certain points in the process. I particularly liked watching Mike's artistic smoothing and texturing of the surface--he settled for nothing less than perfection. <br /> <br /> The entire job took two days, with the entire cement work completed on the first day, and the frame removed on the second. They returned a few days later when the concrete had cured enough to apply the sealant. <br /> <br /> Naturally, it's too soon to tell if the work will withstand the test of time, but I'm very hopeful, having personally witnessed every step of the process and the quality of work and materials they used.I would definitely recommend this company."

"I am really unhappy with Kelvin Company. <br /> First, the good. The work is good. The gentlemen who showed up to dig my pathway and pour the concrete were professional, quick - clean up was great. At the end, it looked like the pathway had just always been there and there was little evidence that they had been there.  <br /> My problem with Kelvin is the time schedule that they operate on and the front office interactions. <br /> This job was, and should have been really easy. A monkey could have installed this walkway if they had access to a cement mixer. After reviewing the site, Paul took 1 week to get me a quote. On the quote, he offered me a cheaper rate if I signed a contract and combined with work he was doing in the neighborhood. The problem, however, is that by the time he got me the quote and I had time to get a permit, that job was already gone. <br /> No cheaper rate for me. And I had already signed a contract. When I asked about it, he essentially blamed me for not acting fast enough. <br /> 4 weeks after signing a contract, a crew shows up (unannounced) to dig a pathway. And they dug in the wrong spot. We actually wanted to push the walkway closer to the house, but they didn't know this and dug where they thought it should go. Consequence: I had to cut some major tree roots we were trying to avoid. <br /> During the pre-pour inspection, Kelvin failed because they put down 1 inch of gravel instead of the standard 4 inches. Looking at my contract, I was paying for 4 inches. When questioned, Kelvin said they didn't want to have to cut more tree roots and wanted me to call the inspector to appeal. <br /> After I had them give me what I payed for, the walkway passed inspection and the concrete was poured within 1 day. The forms were taken off the next day. And it looks great. <br /> 3 weeks later - I"m still waiting for a final inspection, but am getting phone calls to pay my invoice. An invoice I've never received. <br /> Kelvin's front office is ridiculously and utterly, completely ill prepared to deal with people. They have no idea how to speak to their customers nor answer inquiries in a timely manner.  <br /> Perhaps this is because I was a small job and not worth their timely care - but every customer is a voice. <br /> I would NEVER hire them and encourage anyone considering their lower prices as an indication of a deal to consider the old adage - you get what you pay for. <br />"

FAQs for concrete driveways & floors installation projects in Thornton, IL

Polished concrete floors offer many benefits with very few drawbacks. While issues like discoloration, stains, or imprints may occur during pouring, these are rare when working with a skilled flooring contractor. Once polished, concrete floors are easy to maintain, long-lasting, and eco-friendly. They also resist mold and moisture, making them ideal for allergy-prone households, and offer versatile design options for both indoor and outdoor use.

Polished concrete flooring is often more affordable than tile. It involves lower material costs and less labor-intensive installation. Tile installations require additional leveling and preparation, which increases labor costs. Opting for concrete flooring helps reduce upfront expenses and provides a durable, stylish finish that saves money over time with minimal maintenance.

While epoxy flooring offers enhanced durability and toughness compared to polished concrete, it comes with higher material and labor costs. If budget is a top priority, polished concrete floors provide a resilient and attractive finish without the premium price tag, making them an ideal choice for value and long-term performance.

Polished concrete floors last 20 years or more when installed by licensed professionals and maintained with proper care. Their enduring finish withstands heavy use and remains visually impressive for decades. Regular deep cleaning and maintenance help safeguard the floor’s integrity, providing homeowners with a long-lasting, cost‐effective solution that endures daily wear without compromising style.

Polished concrete floors increase home value by offering a modern, sleek appearance and exceptional durability. A professionally installed floor not only enhances visual appeal but also minimizes maintenance expenses, making the property more attractive to prospective buyers. This flooring upgrade delivers a refined look while boosting overall market competitiveness and long-term property value.
