"If all companies conducted business with their customers in mind and valued them the way Benjamin Franklin Plumbing does, there would be no need to search through reviews looking for honest, quality services.  Our experience didn't begin with an A+ rating.  There was some confusion about the appointment time, and the serviceman was late.  However, Benjamin Franklin Plumbing stood by their "Punctual Plumber" guarantee and earned our business as a loyal customer.  David (our serviceman) was considerate of our time, knowledgeable, professional, courteous and efficient.  He quickly assessed what was needed to fit our new bathroom vanity and just as quickly completed the repairs without a hitch.  The level of service provided by Benjamin Franklin Plumbing should be the standard for all companies to achieve.

"My installer Samuel was top notch, very detailed, pleasant, answered all my questions. Excellent representative. The only problem I had was miscommunication on their end as I was told available payment options and Samuel was told another. Did not affect installation or quality of work at all."

FAQs for sump pump or interior foundation drains installation projects in Thorsby, AL

A standard sump pump installation takes two to four hours to complete. The process includes creating or preparing the sump pit, positioning the pump correctly, connecting drainage lines, and setting up electrical components. Installation time may vary depending on your home's specific conditions and whether you're replacing an existing pump or installing a completely new system.

Permit requirements for sump pump installation vary by location. Some municipalities require permits for new installations, particularly when they involve electrical work or modifications to your home's drainage system. It's always best to check with your local building department before beginning installation to ensure compliance with regional regulations and avoid potential penalties.

On average, pedestal sump pumps last 20 to 25 years, while submersible pumps last five to 15 years. However, a manufacturer's warranty can provide guidance on expected lifespan. Consider replacement if you notice unusual noises, frequent cycling, or visible corrosion. Regular maintenance can help maximize your pump's operational life, but replacement is advisable as your unit approaches the end of its expected service period.

Most standard homeowners' insurance policies don't cover sump pump installation as it's considered a preventative measure rather than a response to covered damage. However, some insurers offer additional water damage coverage options that might include sump pump-related protection. Review your policy details or consult with your insurance provider to understand your specific coverage limitations regarding water management systems.
