"These guys did a fantastic job on my yard! I initially hired them to clean up and remove young trees from my yard. I was so impressed with their work that I hired them again to lay landscaping fabric and gravel. They’re easy to work with. Each project they did for me, they were in and out in a day. They show up when they say they will, they do a great job and are reasonably priced. I highly recommend them."

"Really happy with the finished product. We had several things done: extensive mulching (8 yards of mulch), edging, removal of bushes, new plantings and tree trimming. All of this work was completed in two days. Definitely felt that we received a fair price and was well worth the investment. Brian was very responsive, completed everything we had discussed, and the job was very well done. Would definitely recommend to anyone and would use the company again!"

"SELECTION IS GREAT - BEAUTIFUL PRODUCT. PRICES ARE FAIR. STAFF WAS VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE AND OFFERED SUGGESTIONS ON WHICH MATERIAL WOULD BE BEST FOR OUR PROJECT. THE DELIVERY MAN WAS ON TIME AND VERY EFFICIENT. WE HAVE RECEIVED MANY COMPLIMENTS ON THE COLOR AND QUALITY OF THE STONE SINCE OUR INSTALLATION. WOULD USE THEM AGAIN FOR FUTURE PROJECTS."

"It went well - Ken built the scaffolding one afternoon, and completed the work the next day, I think. He seemed very knowledgeable and wanting to do things correctly - even if it was more work. THis is what we wanted. We didn't want a fix quick that might hold up for a year or two, we wanted a job well done that would last 30 years, and that's what we got. <br />"

"It went well.  They arrived timely and completed the work timely. Cleaned up and left the yard in good condition.  It has worked fine since then.  The only dislike was I did not like was the brand of skimmer box / pump box that was installed, still do not like it today and I am considering replacing it.  The design of the skimmer box is difficult to maintain compared to the other box. Obviously, this company did not manufacture the box!!!!  Aquatic Design also installed the first waterfall around '00.  So, yes, I would use them again since I have already hired this company twice.  I also shop at their Monrovia location for supplies."

"Watson Construction did a great job with our patio. We had some issues with product availability, as the manufacturer did not have our original selections in stock, and Fred worked with us throughout each hiccup to select different materials that fit our vision for the patio. On our initial consult visit, Fred came out to look at what we wanted, and gave us a price right then based on what we discussed. I appreciate that no bs approach, as some companies won't even come out unless you agree to a $500 design plan, without knowing what the end cost will be, to determine if it's in the budget or not. Jeremy was awesome - any time we had a question when he was on site, he took the time to listen and respond. Never felt like he was getting annoyed about answering our questions or working with us on the design, and always felt heard, even though if I were in his shoes, I may not have been as patient with us as he was! Our project took longer than expected, but minor issues here and there made the project not quite a routine project, and I could tell that when issues came up, they took the time to think through the solutions, and make sure it was done right. Will definitely be hiring them for future landscape/hardscape projects that we have planned over the next couple years."

"It was good, but it took them forever to get it done -- about 7 months. I know they had to order the stone from overseas, but I had to keep calling and following up with them to learn the status of my stone. The work itself was great, and he did call me after the installation to make sure I was happy."

"I learned about the company after receiving a flyer about them in the mail. They were much better priced than other retailers because they are a direct importer. They completed the installation. Throughout the process, it was clear that they had expertise in the area of granite installation. They were very helpful with helping me make any selections for the specific layout of the granite. They were also really accommodating with the timing as well. The granite turned out really well."

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Tipton, IN

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
