"Quackers was the 2nd vendor to review the problem. The first vendor proposed a much more expensive solution. Quacker's saw that I did not have a sump pump in my sump pit so they proposed that this be the first step to fix the problem which so far is working. He also advised me to run new drainage tile away from foundation near where the water entered the basement."

"I had a sump pump installed (fall 2022), along with drainage channels and a moisture barrier in one of corner of my basement. The sump pump has a battery backup system too. Install was done very professionally. They worked with me to finance the project through a 0% loan which was a nice feature. There was an issue in spring of 2023. They came promptly, diagnosed a bad pump and replaced free of charge. Recently the pump alarm kept going off intermittently. Got a repair tech scheduled to come out same week. He found a issue with how the alarm was placed and replaced that part. Both times that I had issues, thetechs were very knowledgeable and informed me further about how the system works. I would highly recommend this company for water issues."

"We set up a time for them to come out and apply their coating. The technicians Jeremiah and Matt called when they were in route and gave an ETA. They arrived and we went over the project and they got started. The worked efficiently and completed the job in a timely manner. Would hire them again."

"Five years ago my wife and I had our house pierced. We thought the company was reputable and would stand by their product. We had over 25 piers installed. However our basement foundation continued to settle. We thought we had a lifetime warranty. At least that's what the salesman told us, but when we called him back out the company could not stand by it because it was an act of god that their product failed. We called Advanced Foundation Repair and Replacement. Frank Matyiko came out the next day with a structural engineer and they concluded that the only fix would be a new basement. They cautiously demolished our old foundation and hauled it away. We have a new 9 foot basement. We wish we never paid for the piercing originally. They provide service for the smallest foundation to the most radical job imaginable. Great job guys!!! <br />"

"I called many companies to get estimates to stop water from coming in to my crawl space and then onto my new carpeting in my basement. All companies wanted to put a sump pump in the basement in the crawl space. I feel that this is a band aid for the real issue. Yes this would solve my problem but why let the water come in and then pump it back out. Crain General Contracting wanted to do the work performed on the outside and put in a sump on the inside. Most other companies only wanted to do work on the inside. I called and talked to Bob about it and he said yes I could do the work on just the outside and that should take care of my problem. So he gave me another proposal with just the work on the outside and a caution that it will cost more later on down the road if I need to put a sump in. This is understandable, since they would have to duplicate some work they already did, but I was willing to take the chance. So I proceeded to have the work done on the outside. Hey did a great job overall and I would recommend them. They did exactly what they said they would do and there was no games involved with price."

"It has taken me almost 2-years to write this review, so I hope they have improved. My experience was awful. It had been a very rainy May and the basement kept getting water in it. I called Helitech and a competitor and both were really busy. Chose Helitech because they could get there sooner. Salesman promised me they would start the work in about 2-weeks -- work wasn't done until late August. I was told they had a big job at a nursing home that had to be done first. My job was not a minor cheap change but $5,000 and not one I thought would be put on the back burner. The people in the office were just about nonexistent; I'd call and leave messages and they were never returned. Just terrible customer support! The actual work that was done was good. And while the team of workers were nice, I had proof that they had gone through some of my things in the basement. I found one of the items upstairs proving they had moved it. The whole project put me behind three months of putting the house up for sale and left me with a bad taste for this business."

FAQs for basement drainage channels installation projects in Troy, MO

Expect a well-built French drain to last 30 to 40 years. By channeling both surface- and ground-water away from your foundation, the system relieves hydrostatic pressure and helps prevent costly structural damage. Choose a pipe with a quality cloth filter to keep sediment out and extend the drain’s life. A quick annual inspection and routine cleanouts will keep water flowing freely, ensuring the system continues to protect your home for years to come.

Most French drains sit two feet below grade, but depth ultimately depends on the problem you’re solving. For puddling rainwater or snowmelt, a shallow curtain drain at lawn level often does the trick. To handle rising groundwater, pros dig deeper, down to the footing, and run the pipe beneath the basement slab. A drainage contractor will determine the optimal depth for your specific soil conditions and water issues.

A properly installed interior French drain captures water at the slab, channels it to a sump pit, and directs it safely outside, preventing basement floods before they occur. Because the pipe sits just under the floor edge, a plumber can reach it easily for cleaning or repairs. Pairing the drain with a reliable sump pump gives you the best long-term protection.

Hire a contractor who installs drainage systems every day—typically a foundation specialist, drainage contractor, experienced landscaper, or plumber with waterproofing experience. These pros understand slope, soil, and local codes, and they have the equipment to trench safely around utilities. Ask for references and photos of recent jobs to be sure they can design a system that keeps water off your foundation for decades.

Once the drain is in, patch the yard by reseeding bare spots or replacing plants the crew removed. Inside, look for ways to add value—finishing the basement or upgrading interior waterproofing while the space is open often costs less now than later. Schedule a quick annual checkup to flush sediment and confirm the pipe and sump pump are clear. Consistent maintenance ensures the drain functions properly and protects your investment.

Most policies don’t cover the cost of repairing a French drain itself, but they may provide coverage for water damage if the system fails. Coverage varies by insurer, so be sure to read the fine print or contact your agent before any issues arise. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, consider a separate flood policy to close the gap. Knowing your coverage in advance helps you budget for repairs and avoid unexpected costs.
