"We have a concern about the level of radon in our basement apartment. Jesse came to our home and ran a radon test for a week. He was very thorough and informative. He addressed our concerns and answered many of the questions we had. At the end of the test he immediately sent us a report showing the radon levels for the week. We were very pleased with the service received."

"Scott made me feel as important as some of the larger jobs he’s handled. I felt he was trustworthy (no scare tactics), attentive to my needs, fairly priced, and accessible. Out of my experience with other vendors, he’s the only one I would recommend to friends and family. Anyone seeing this review, should feel comfortable in knowing that their home is in great hands."

"We live in a 1920s craftsman bungalow. We love the look and style of the house, but the energy efficiency is obviously not the greatest. We called Howard to try and get some help to try and make our old home as energy efficient as possible. Howard was a pleasure to work with and was not afraid of getting dirty. He crawled around in our crawl space and our attic and ran a blower door test and found multiple things that would help increase our overall home efficiency. A day after his inspection he sent an email with photos and recommendations, some of which included links to products that would help and some of which were safety issues (HVAC and Hot Water Heater Exhaust issues, etc.) He also listed recommended contractors that would be great to conduct the work. Since, we've done all the work he recommended. We JUST got the work done, but I'm confident it will help tremendously. I would recommend Howard to anyone trying to make their home not only more energy efficient, but safer. As a bonus, he's also super responsive and friendly."

"Contacted Accuspect on Saturday afternoon and left a voicemail. My call was returned within an hour. I explained we'd just had an offer accepted on a home and the 10 day due diligence period had begun. After providing details regarding the property, I was quoted $350 with an appointment scheduled for 8:30 the following Monday (two days later!). Gary arrived on time and walked my husband and I through the home, explaining things that may be concerning and not quite right but not such a big deal. We received the detailed report later that evening that included a summary of issues/areas of concern or to watch for. We were very please with everything and will use the report to leverage repair requests. <br />"

"Paul was absolutely fantastic.  We had a house under contract that had a high radon reading of 7.1, and the buyers asked us to mitigate prior to closing.  So we had a small window of time to address the problem.  Paul's estimate was ultimately the most competitive, he was able to come in quickly with his crew, and our radon reading a couple of days later was 1.1!  <br /> I recommend him with complete enthusiasm.  He's super nice, arrived right on time, left the house in great condition and was a consummate professional.  <br />"

FAQs for radon gas testing projects in Union City, GA

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. The gas seeps through cracks in foundations and collects in basements and other low areas. Once you breathe it in, radioactive particles lodge in lung tissue and do long-term damage. Because you can’t see or smell radon, the EPA recommends testing your home every two years—and after major renovations—to keep your family safe.

Yes—every home should be tested. The EPA advises doing it at least every two years and any time you remodel, buy, or sell. On average, one in 15 houses nationwide sits above the recommended limit, and the only way to know where yours stands is a formal test. The equipment simply measures gas levels and won’t change your indoor environment, so the process is completely harmless.

Certified radon professionals—often home inspectors or dedicated radon mitigation contractors—handle testing. These radon testing professionals follow EPA protocols and use calibrated instruments to check levels throughout your house. Hiring a certified radon specialist means results you can trust for real estate deals, insurance requirements, and, most importantly, your family’s health.

Inspectors specialize in measuring radon gas levels, while licensed mitigation contractors design and install the systems that remove it. If your test comes back high, your inspector can point you to a qualified mitigation pro who will size and install the right fan, piping, or other equipment to bring levels down.

No—standard home air purifiers don’t touch radon. They’re built to trap dust and pollen, not radioactive gas. If testing shows high levels, you’ll need a dedicated mitigation system that vents the gas from beneath your home to the outdoors. Relying on a room purifier alone won’t keep your indoor air safe.

Opening a few windows in your home might dilute radon for a short time, but the gas seeps back in as soon as they’re closed. For a lasting fix, you’ll need a professional mitigation system—often a sub-slab depressurization fan—that pulls radon from beneath the foundation and safely vents it outside.
