"July 22, 2014 update.
 One garage door window was broken during the accident. This company's response stated that they would contact me upon my return from out of town. They did not. I called them and left a message but got no response.  I waited a while before calling again, assuming that they were simply busy. While I waited, I removed the remaining broken glass in the frame. In doing so, I had to remove brackets holding the glass, from the inside. I sent them an email several weeks ago, asking if they could sell me the clips, or if they needed to replace the glass themselves. No response!  I called them a week or so later, and spoke with the lady who answered. She recognized my name, she said, and would have someone bet back with me regarding the glass. No response! I called a second time, with the same information and was again told they would contact me. No response! A few days ago, I called a THIRD time, speaking with, I think, one of the owners. She assured me they would try to find the needed clips, and contact me. No Response!

At this point, I will either figure a way to replace the glass myself or call someone else. I also lowered my Angie;s List ratings accordingly. ]

I called on a Friday, as the damage occurred on Thursday night. The lady who answered the phone said "all our crews are out for the day - we can be there Monday". I was a bit surprised, as their site states "24/7 service". We were leaving on vacation on Tuesday, so I was a bit nervous about getting it fixed before we left. With few choices, I agreed on Monday.
The service tech arrived at the scheduled time. He gave me the impression that he was new in the garage door business. He asked me what happened and what the current shape the door was in. I was very pleasantly surprised that he immediately started repairing the door using a set of horizontal braces. I assumed he would try to sell me a new door. It took him no longer than half an hour or so, and the door worked - good as new. And the price was very fair.
I was a bit surprised that they would send a new worker out without an experienced person. One of the glass door windows had broken, and he did not know how to replace it. He called later and asked to come back to measure the glass - something he should have done while still here. We were too busy packing, preparing pets, etc., so I had to tell him it couldn't be done that day. I was also surprised that he didn't offer to adjust the Down Force on the door, to keep the problem from happening again. When I asked him why the door failed to reverse, he muttered something about sometimes a chip in an opener will fail. Again, it seemed that fixing the root cause of the problem would go along with the repair. I've made this adjustment several times over the years, and know that it only takes a few minutes. In fact, I mentioned that it appears I will have to adjust the down force - assuming he would take the hint that he should do it. His response was "yes, it appears that it needs it". Maybe he didn't know how.
Bottom line - The immediate problem was fixed, at a fair price. I would use this company again - although would insist on an experienced person."

"I used Andrew's Garage Door Repair.  The last time I used them it was not satisfactory.  They came in to look at the garage door and said he was going to replace the back motor.  That process took about 4 weeks.  They came out three times and the first two times were good.  The reason I signed up to Angie's List is because they give honest feedback.  He said he would be back in three days and he wasn't.  He did fix it finally.  I had to make a lot of phone calls and emails and reminders.  I didn't understand that, I mean, I paid him the money he was asking for.  So he came and he fixed it and it is working fine.  They were here April of 2016.  It cost $500."

-I returned home one day to find Robert and crew fixing a drywall patch that had been applied years prior, even though it was out of the scope of our agreement; he told me he couldn't bring himself to just paint over it without properly fixing it first

2) Experience
Before our color consultation, we had a general idea of the color scheme we wanted for the house.  Thanks to Robert's experience, we were able to avoid making some disastrous color choices given that we had no idea how much seemingly minor differences in color shading could affect the final product.  Without Robert's input, there is no telling what our house would look like today.  I should also note that we reviewed our final color choices with 3 different interior designers, who all agreed that we have 'impeccable taste.'  (A complement we shamelessly accepted even though Robert was the catalyst)

3) Straightforwardness
Robert acted with our best interest in mind.  For example, although we selected a particular name brand paint, he suggested we use a more cost-effective (yet equal quality) brand for certain ceilings that did not require a unique color, even though doing so would add to his workload as he now had to deal with 2 suppliers

4) Work Ethic
Robert was the only bidder who actually paints in addition to managing his business; managers of the competing bidders would not actually be on site, which made us wary of quality control.  The benefits of Robert's hands-on approach were evident in the results

The end product exceed our expectations, and the value was unmatched.  Before Robert's involvement, we only thought of painting as a means to refresh the house.  In fact, our house has been transformed, and we have Robert and Competitive Painters to thank."
