"I originally contacted Craid Schagunn to do the whole job, but he needed help due to the size of the job and the time constraints in getting it done, se he called his friend Kevin Kuhlman to assist on the job. I worked with both of them and they were both very professional and answered my many questions and met all of my demands. I would definitely use either one of these individuals for any future carpet jobs. Craig also specializes in tile work and so if I ever need that done, I will call him on that. <br /> <br /> Before contacting Craig about my job, I also had another company give me a bid. Quote a little higher, but they were booked up for several weeks out. Craig and Kevin were able to get on the job as soon as I could get the carpet. I purchased the carpet from Great Floors in Portland, where I got a very good deal on the carpet. Craig and Kevin at no cost to me even though I did not purchase the carpet through them, picked up the carpet for me. <br /> <br /> They were on time and completed the whole job in two days as they said they would. They did a pretty good job of cleaning up after they left and took all of our old carpet away to the dump. All part of the cost of the bid. <br /> <br /> The entire job went off without a hitch and I am very happy."

"I have used Top Notch to clean my carpets for last 10 years. James has always done a fantastic job, is a total professional, and a joy to work with. Today his son Nick handled my carpet cleaning and is absolutely as professional and hard working as his father James. My carpets look like new. I continue to be amazed at their dedication and highly recommend Top Notch for carpet cleaning needs."

"They were great at helping me select carpet, they came out and measured ahead of time, and gave me a quote. I purchased during their customer appreciation day which gave me a little discount, and a free gift with purchase. The installers arrived on time, were very courteous, cleaned up well, and did a great job. All of their people were great to work with."

"Dave and his crew really came through for us. We had pre-purchased carpet for a remodeled attic about a year earlier that needed to be installed. When the crew came to Install the carpet they let us know that we did not buy enough carpet to finish the job. Dave and his team installed what they could and then squeezed us into their packed schedule a week later after we purchased the remaining carpet. The crew was very professional, friendly and knowledgeable. Our carpet looks great and we are glad we found Pannell Floors!"

"I liked the fact that I could go to the flooring store he recommended, select the flooring I wanted and then have it picked up by him.  I had no way to transport something of that size.  David arrived on time for both the estimate appointment and for the installation.  The original plan was to just do the bathroom flooring, but while he was here I asked him about the vinyl in my entryway, thinking this would be a future project.  He explained that it would be more economical for me if he did it today, as a different day would require another trip charge.  He went out to his truck, found a remnant I liked and took care of the entryway right then.  I really appreciated that.  I am a bit naive in how projects like this work.  Someone less ethical might have been happy to come another day and charge me for the separate trip.  I learned a valuable lesson and was thankful for David's honesty.  As if that was not enough, he kindly replaced a few tiles around the bathroom which had come loose/come off with the pounding during the replacement of the sub flooring by a prior workman.  I am 100% satisfied and will certainly hire DJ's Floors again. <br /> <br />"

"We unfortunately had a small section of engineered hardwood flooring damaged due to a plumbing leak; less than 8 sq. ft. I contacted multiple contractors to get a quote and Sergey was the only one who responded. No one else wanted to deal with such a small repair project. He came out to review the situation and discuss the challenges of getting it right, especially since we only had a few pieces of material to work with that we saved from the original install 11 years ago. This was a very tricky, surgical repair with little room for error. Sergey arrived on time the day we agreed upon, we again discussed the risks if something went wrong, and he got to work. He removed a small section to evaluate how the pieces were glued to the concrete flooring. From there, we decided to move forward. He set up shop, was extremely organized and thoughtful to keep the area clean and dust free. The finished work is excellent! Not a single error or mishap. Sergey was professional, accommodating, and a true craftsman. I am very appreciative that he did not turn away the job given it's size and difficulty."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Vancouver, WA

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
