"Betsy, the owner was unable to repair the problem because she believed the file was corrupted. She was able to disable the Windows automatic download for updates so that our computer wouldn't continue to shut down and restart 3x every time we got on it.  Betsy was unable to answer all of our questions re:other problems due to time constraints, but she was very kind and explained things as she went along.  She ran some programs to check our computer for any viruses or malware and then downloaded some new programs she recommended to our desk top for our future use.  She told us this would be a temporary fix however because preventing the updates would sooner or later slow down our computer or show other problems.  We hadn't planned on spending a lot on this appt. so we agreed to go this route. We took advantage of a Big Deal with this company for 49.99 for 1 Hour of Service.  She felt like we would have success for awhile. <br />"

"I had just purchased a brand new Dell laptop because my existing laptop was fairly old and running very slow.  Once I got the new one up and running I found it was no faster than my old computer.  I began to suspect that when I transferred all my files from my old computer to my new one, I had inadvertently moved over some virus or corrupt files(s) that was causing my problem.  Alexander Technical Resources took control of my computer, remotely, and for about three or four hours ran a bazillion diagnostic programs searching for problems.  In the end he didn't really find anything of significance.  A few unnecessary files which he deleted but no viruses or other issues that would cause my computer to be slow.  The technician did say, however, he noticed I was running McAfee anti virus software.  It came already installed on my computer so I just kept it.  He further stated McAfee has a lot of stuff constantly running in the background on your computer as part of their security apparatus.  A number of people had reported they found this caused their computers to run slower and suggested I might try removing McAfee and installing another anti virus program and see if that helps.  I Googled McAfee removal tool, ran the program to remove McAfee and installed another anti virus program.  The result:  my computer seems to run a little faster without McAfee than it did with it.  Just as an aside, I also started using Mozilla as my internet browser instead of internet explorer 11 and that greatly increased my internet browsing speeds.  FYI. <br />"
