"Amazing system! Did a lot of research on alarm systems....so glad I went with 1st security! They came to my house and explained everything to me, were not pushy at all. Came and installed the system a few days later....took the time to explain everything to me and did an amazing job with the installation. And the price is excellent, both the installation fee and the month to month. So happy with my decision."

"When American Jewel installed the door I gave them A grades as I thought they did an excellent job.  But after using the door for a few weeks I noticed the dead bolt didn't close completely, but only about 2/3, and also noticed the screen door was no longer aligned properly, so although it closed and looked right, the door was slightly off and it would no longer lock.  I called American Jewel and they scheduled the installer to return and make the minor corrections.  The installer did not show up.  When I called American Jewel again, they did not return my calls. I complained to Angie's List, and via their complaint resolution process American Jewel contacted me.  They were very apologetic and attributed it to a mix up, accepted responsibility and sent the installer to my home to make the minor corrections.  I would use American Jewel again, despite this hiccup, as my wife and I like the door they installed, feel we received excellent value, and ultimately American Jewel followed through on the minor problems I described and corrected them all."

"My home has been a mess since the last hurricane and every rain since has been causing more leaking and more cracks. I found MJ Home Services after searching for weeks and was pleased to see how in depth there website was, they did it all. The estimate was high but I couldn't put this off anymore. They install a exterior french drain while completing some waterproofing to the inside which was the prevention. The crews did a great job at cleaning up all the mold from the leakage. We just had a rain last week and a completely dry basement! Thanks MJ you guys are great!"

"We had a new home in four days. We had siding windows shutters and front door all excellently installed. Paul was our project manager. Paul was excellent keeping us informed of all things connected with our project. Jim and Mike installed all new windows and our front door. The job was neat and clean and they were wonderful. Jose was the lead of a very talented 4 man team. Again an excellent job. We are thrilled with our new home. The quality of all of the materials is of the highest standard and all of the crew were talented and very pleasant to work with. We would highly recommend Ferris for all home projects."

"He informed me of a reasonable assessment and diagnostic fee of about $80. I was please with this professional fee. He was flexible in scheduling and assigned Hash, one of his experienced technicians. Hash kept me updated on his specific ETA that day and was precisely on time. He inspected its' operation, etc., and reviewed with me the need to adjust the chain, replace the springs that he estimated were about 7 years old, align the rails and adjust the rollers. When he was finished the door operated perfectly as well as a new system and I felt very secure. Tight, quiet and smooth! Hash was skilled and very professional!!!"

FAQs for storm door installation projects in Viola, DE

For mobile homes, look for a lightweight storm door designed specifically for manufactured housing. A slimmer frame eases installation and reduces added stress on the doorway, while removable glass or screen panels allow you to switch between airflow and complete protection in minutes. The result is solid weather defense without unnecessary weight and a door that remains easy to operate season after season.

A well-installed and well-maintained storm door can add modest value by improving curb appeal, increasing security, and reducing energy loss. If the door is faded, dented, or hanging loosely, those benefits disappear—and may even harm first impressions. Professional installation ensures the door seal is correctly aligned and keeps the hardware in place, allowing the upgrade to deliver both visual and practical benefits that buyers notice.

Most storm doors last 25 years, and high-end models, when properly cared for, can reach 50 years. Lifespan depends on the frame material, glass quality, and the amount of punishment the door receives from wind, rain, or sun. Regular cleaning, fresh weatherstripping, and prompt repairs keep hinges tight and glass secure, helping the door reach its maximum lifespan.

Allow three to five hours to set a standard pre-hung storm door if the opening is in good condition. If you need to widen the frame or repair wood rot, expect the job to take a whole day to complete. A seasoned installer can complete the job faster and ensure the door sits square, seals tightly, and operates smoothly, saving time that often outweighs the DIY time commitment.

Most single exterior doorways can accommodate a storm door, provided the frame dimensions match those of the new unit. Patio and sliding glass doors are the main exceptions because their tracks won’t support the extra door. If you’re unsure about clearances or hinge placement, consider bringing in a door installer to measure the opening and recommend any necessary adjustments for a secure fit.
