"Harry and his team were the BEST investment we made for our home renovation! For scope, we were basically redoing all the walls and ceilings of an old home, 2000 sq ft ceiling work + way more than that for the walls. Also some weird stuff like wrapping wooden beams and posts in the house. We worked with a bunch of other people for our home renovation project (electrician, plumber, main contractor, etc), but Harry was by far the most professional, detail-oriented, and honest guy to work with. Communication - From the start, Harry was very prompt and excellent with communication, which is HUGE when you are working with a million different people and trying to figure out what's what. He scheduled a walk through within 1-2 days of our initial call (which was mostly limited due to our schedule). He gave us a quote within a week. We had a lot of questions along the way, and he was always very prompt to respond either via e-mail or text. Quality of work - I'm not a drywall expert, but our contractor was very impressed with the work they did! And our contractor is hard to impress. His team worked very efficiently, and cleaned up really well after they were done; they left it better than they found it! Also important was he always gave us his honest opinion about what was necessary or not (how smooth the ceiling vs. walls have to be). Never felt like he was trying to upsell us or anything. Bonus - We also got into a bad situation with one of our other contractor/vendors. We ended up mentioning it to Harry because basically the other vendor threatened to stop working for us, which would have impacted Harry's timeline for drywall. He is such a good guy, he kind of coached us through it and offered suggestions for how we could resolve it. Gosh darn it Harry, you are such a good man, and an even better business owner. If you've read this far, just hire him."

"Kyle did an exceptional job. He completed the project quickly, professionally, and with extreme quality. We had a minor issue and he responded quickly and adjusted the build. I would highly recommend and would certainly hire this professional again."

"The work itself was done very well. I have no complaints with the work itself. I also appreciate the effort it took for the owner, Clayton, to arrange a time to come to my condo to do the work. My schedule was hectic, and we worked out and changed times. He was very good at returning text messages, checking and rechecking his schedule, and more. Also the crew that came to work at my condo were polite and friendly (fun to talk with). However, Xtreme Services fell short of my expectations in a few ways. First, Clayton brought 4 crew members with him. Who needs 5 people to do such simple handyman tasks? He told me that he had a bigger job just after mine, so he brought the whole crew. Second, they arrived in a truck without a logo and parked in a handicap parking spot. (They did have a handicap tag, but I did not see anyone who was actually handicapped.) These two factors created a problem for me. The condo security was a little surprised to have 5 handymen arrive in a truck and park in a handicap zone although there was plenty of other parking in a close garage guest parking spot. Security apparently contacted the condo manager who checked us out to make sure there was no trouble. This made me look bad. Second, it cost me $420.00 for them to do these simple jobs in two hours. I expected to pay about $250 to $300 as they did come to my condo, which is fairly high end, so I expected to pay a little extra for the service, but certainly not as much as I was charged. Third, I asked for an invoice, and Clayton asked me, "Do you need it for taxes or something?" I said that I didn't and he simply looked at me waiting for me to tell him to forget it, which I stupidly did. I really did want an invoice to see why I was charged so much, as well as proof that Xtreme Services did the work if I had any problems later on. (I paid cash.) I actually blame myself for not pushing for the receipt/invoice. But, still, any good business is going to write up an invoice at the end of the work. If Xtreme Services wants to continue to grow and get jobs, they need to know this, especially when working with people in Honolulu condos. I can add that I didn't ask for an estimate, being trusting, and this was likely a part of the problem with how much I ended up paying. Enough said."

FAQs for arbor, pergola or trellis custom build projects in Waialua, HI

Pergolas and gazebos are both outdoor structures, but there are differences between the two. A pergola has a slatted roof that allows partial sunlight to filter through, creating a light and airy space. In contrast, a gazebo features a solid roof that provides complete shade. This key difference influences the comfort and visual appeal of your outdoor space.

Prefabricated pergola kits require one to four hours of assembly, while custom pergola designs take an average of eight to 16 hours. Additional groundwork, such as pouring a concrete slab, leveling the site, and removing obstructions, may extend the installation process to several weeks, ensuring a secure and long-lasting build.

A standard pergola kit ships with everything you need—four support posts, rafters, top runners, support beams, and hardware for anchoring the frame to a concrete pad. Many manufacturers also bundle add-ons like retractable canopies, privacy screens, or modular sections that let you tweak the footprint. Because each part is pre-cut and labeled, the kit helps you—or your contractor—assemble a sturdy, attractive structure without extra trips to the hardware store.
