"So far everything has been good. We haven't started building yet and are still waiting for our loan to close. We were at a home show in March and we knew we wouldn't start building until October but Lexar Homes still let us lock in at the $2,000 off, even though we did not have our finances secured. The house plans and everything cost $1,700, but they did not cash the check until we got approval from our lender. That was upstanding. I just figured they would cash our check and if the funding didn't go through we would just be out that money. So from March until August they held the check. I would rate them an A overall."

"Kat and her husband work as an effective team and they go far beyond most contractors to get the product exactly where you want it, including difficult locations. I called them twice on very short notice (less than half a day), and they showed up on time and in good humor.  <br /> Their truck is smaller than the usual big 15 yard trucks and more agile, and they are willing to take the time to figure out how to comply with a customer's needs if at all possible. For instance, to pour sand for a slab base, I had to get it poured through a framed opening in the lower story of my new house. To do it, Kat had to back the loaded truck up a short but steep dirt incline. She saved us hours of shoveling and wheel barrow carrying by getting the load inside the building. <br />"

"we had used them a month ago to start a project in my backyard.  We had made 5 trips the first time and today Sept 24, 2015 we made two trips. WE got a load of landscape rock and bark chips.  The owners  and staff are great to work with and so very professional. Even with our low cost work being done, I was able to have a tab until I completed my trips for each day.  <br /> <br /> <br />"

"I have been using them for 3 years for multiple projects and would not go to somebody else. They also built a cabin in the woods. It was built 10 miles from the road so it was like carrying all the stuff up the path. They also did the garage and remodeling of the house, mostly kitchen and a little bit of plumbing work in the bathroom. I am still using them and I would be using them for the next thing that will be coming up too."

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Waldport, OR

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
