"Ramon, Johnny and Tyrus did a very good job installing drain tile and sump pump in our basement. They were very friendly and communicated very well throughout the project. They left the worksite very clean when they left. Would not hesitate to use them again."

"We had John and his crew install an egress window in our home at the end of May 2018. We really appreciated that they showed up when they said they would, they were respectful of our home, the cleaned up the site well when they were done and John went above and beyond making our landscaping match the other side of the house (it was not expected of him to do, he just did it to be nice). Our new window has added a much needed bedroom to our home that will be enjoyed for years to come. Our final price was no more than the quote we were given which we really appreciated!"

"We called early that morning, and they said they would have techs out to look at it by 1:00, and they were here by 12:30. We explained the issues we were having, that it was not heating the water at all, and that the unit was extremely old. They asked us to follow them downstairs while they inspected the unit. They throughly explained what they were looking for and how it made the unit run. Upon inspection, they explained the age of the unit, and that at its age it was not only dead, but using so much energy that it was not even worth repairing. They explained the different options we had, like a similar tank with different gallon sizes, the energy they used and if it would be the right fit for how much water we used. They also explained the pros and cons of the tankless water heaters, and that they had mixed reviews on how others liked them. It was their recommendation that with the mixed reviews on tankless water heaters, they would suggest a 60 gallon waterheater. They placed the order, and were here the next day, at the time they said they would be, to install the unit. They were very respectful of the flooring upstairs, and made sure to answer any questions we had during installation about the unit. The only poor thing I could say is that they did not clean up the sediment that was left on the floor, leaving me to clean up the mess."

"They are honest about things that needed to be done, that he could or could not do. He has a lot going on and so he has to work on bigger project first but that is common. Sometimes if he do not have a big job you cannot really expect to get quick service, that kind of goes for a lot of people. I would use his services again in the future, as eventually it’s the right thing."

"Nick came and gave me an estimate on a Tuesday and took the trees down the next day. This was part 1 of 2. He will be installing a fence, removing a concrete patio area and fixing the really ugly flower beds. He has been very helpful through this whole process. Because of his prompt service I have hired him to do some tree work at my rental property."

"<hr /> Our home in Spooner Wisconsin had very high radon readings so I called DBS Solutions. Ron came out to meet with us. We also had some water issues in the basement that Ron was able to address, so we decided to have both problems fixed at the same time. We had some unusual requests in the placement of the pipes and fan for the radon. Ron was able to think outside of the box to make this happen. The job had some challenges. (weather, placement of components, crazy amount of rocks around the foundation) Ron and his crew were always cheerful and competent, very hard working. After completion, we were unhappy with how loud the radon fan was. Ron and Brandon headed back out and retooled the fan to make it much quieter. We are very happy with the work. No water in the basement, radon went from 28 to 1, outside and inside foundation looks great. I'd like to give a special thank you to Brandon. He worked the job from start to finish and did a great job."

"I met Joel a couple of years ago while he was doing work for a neighbor. I took his card and told him that if the job he did held up, I would be in touch. When it came time for my project, there was not a single crack in my neighbors driveway, so I contacted him. <br /> The contract I signed called for the replacement of a broken asphalt driveway and rotten timber retaining wall. The project started out simple enough, with a bid of about $12,000, but the city stepped in and required special engineering and permits that were not part of the original quote. In addition the street in front of the house was under construction and changes that the city made meant several changes in the design of the wall and steps. <br /> The change orders for an additional wall, and the purchase of concrete patio furniture also increased the price <br /> His work was meticulous and artistic. He used gentle curves and angles on the wall and steps. He installed irrigation pipe under the patio to another part of the yard in case we wanted to irrigate at some time in the future. <br /> His price was very competitive(although slightly higher) than some others I got. I selected him because I knew his work, His bid also included thicker than customary concrete with more steel. He told me it is cheaper to do it right than to come back and fix problems later. <br /> Given the problems with city engineers and street construction, the job took longer than expected, but Joel and his crew were extremely efficient, and as often as possible left the property in a condition that we could use the driveway overnight. <br /> I was very pleased with the result, and I highly recommend his work <br />"

FAQs for basement drainage channels installation projects in Walker, MN

Expect a well-built French drain to last 30 to 40 years. By channeling both surface- and ground-water away from your foundation, the system relieves hydrostatic pressure and helps prevent costly structural damage. Choose a pipe with a quality cloth filter to keep sediment out and extend the drain’s life. A quick annual inspection and routine cleanouts will keep water flowing freely, ensuring the system continues to protect your home for years to come.

Most French drains sit two feet below grade, but depth ultimately depends on the problem you’re solving. For puddling rainwater or snowmelt, a shallow curtain drain at lawn level often does the trick. To handle rising groundwater, pros dig deeper, down to the footing, and run the pipe beneath the basement slab. A drainage contractor will determine the optimal depth for your specific soil conditions and water issues.

A properly installed interior French drain captures water at the slab, channels it to a sump pit, and directs it safely outside, preventing basement floods before they occur. Because the pipe sits just under the floor edge, a plumber can reach it easily for cleaning or repairs. Pairing the drain with a reliable sump pump gives you the best long-term protection.

Hire a contractor who installs drainage systems every day—typically a foundation specialist, drainage contractor, experienced landscaper, or plumber with waterproofing experience. These pros understand slope, soil, and local codes, and they have the equipment to trench safely around utilities. Ask for references and photos of recent jobs to be sure they can design a system that keeps water off your foundation for decades.

Once the drain is in, patch the yard by reseeding bare spots or replacing plants the crew removed. Inside, look for ways to add value—finishing the basement or upgrading interior waterproofing while the space is open often costs less now than later. Schedule a quick annual checkup to flush sediment and confirm the pipe and sump pump are clear. Consistent maintenance ensures the drain functions properly and protects your investment.

Most policies don’t cover the cost of repairing a French drain itself, but they may provide coverage for water damage if the system fails. Coverage varies by insurer, so be sure to read the fine print or contact your agent before any issues arise. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, consider a separate flood policy to close the gap. Knowing your coverage in advance helps you budget for repairs and avoid unexpected costs.
