"Gary, the install tech, was great. He arrived on time, was professional, and went above and beyond to ensure everything was done right and I was satisfied. He installed a new radon pipe, and ensured the clamps were not directly against the house and the top of the pipe was properly away from the gutter. After the pipe was installed I noticed a rattling noise coming from the motor...Gary checked it and cleaned out debris multiple times until the noise was gone. You could tell Gary takes pride in his work and wanted to do the job right the first time (I feel like you don't see this very often). A job well done."

"Chris was already at the house when I arrived at the appointed time. He explained the process and as we proceeded with the inspection he patiently and thoroughly described any issues he encountered. We were joined by John, the owner of the company, who performed some specific inspections and also provided thorough explanations. We were also joined by Rocky who JMR contracted to do the pest inspection. The inspection was thorough. Some of the tests required a few days to process, but I received most of the results the following day and the full results in 2 days. The reports were delivered in PDF files that were well organized, thorough and easy to understand. Overall I'm very pleased with their professionalism and diligence."

"The entire experience with Rick from Aaron associates was outstanding. He was extremely easy to contact and returned phone calls very quickly. He came to our home after normal hours to inspect our home and give us a quote. When he and his team arrived, the installation process was no different. They arrived and got right to work. They worked great as a team and were very helpful in answering questions and explaining the entire process and expected results. We are extremely happy with the entire job. They even included a test canister to run a post-mitigation radon test and a postage paid envelope. <br />"

"I waited a month before getting a test kit I called and was told there was something wrong with the Angies list orders but that I would be receiving a kit soon. It wouldve ben nice if they called me to tell me that though. The test results were quick and on par with other radon test I had done locally."

"Tom and his team did an excellent job inspecting our possible future house purchase. The inspection was very detailed. The explanation of the report was professional and clear. The output of the report was also very easy to read and comprehend. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a very professional detailed home inspection. Good work!"

"My realtor told me that Ahearn was the best company in the area. I wanted a knowledgable inspector who would give it to me straight. I made an appointment with Ahearn for a home inspection and radon test. Karen who answers the phones in the office was very nice and personable. She even returned my 4am call to the office within 15 minutes. Ultimately the scheduling didn't work out so I didn't have the home inspection. However, after I relayed the recommendation to two other friends, they both had their homes inspected by him and they were both really impressed. Sad I missed out."

FAQs for radon gas testing projects in Ware, MA

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. The gas seeps through cracks in foundations and collects in basements and other low areas. Once you breathe it in, radioactive particles lodge in lung tissue and do long-term damage. Because you can’t see or smell radon, the EPA recommends testing your home every two years—and after major renovations—to keep your family safe.

Yes—every home should be tested. The EPA advises doing it at least every two years and any time you remodel, buy, or sell. On average, one in 15 houses nationwide sits above the recommended limit, and the only way to know where yours stands is a formal test. The equipment simply measures gas levels and won’t change your indoor environment, so the process is completely harmless.

Certified radon professionals—often home inspectors or dedicated radon mitigation contractors—handle testing. These radon testing professionals follow EPA protocols and use calibrated instruments to check levels throughout your house. Hiring a certified radon specialist means results you can trust for real estate deals, insurance requirements, and, most importantly, your family’s health.

Inspectors specialize in measuring radon gas levels, while licensed mitigation contractors design and install the systems that remove it. If your test comes back high, your inspector can point you to a qualified mitigation pro who will size and install the right fan, piping, or other equipment to bring levels down.

No—standard home air purifiers don’t touch radon. They’re built to trap dust and pollen, not radioactive gas. If testing shows high levels, you’ll need a dedicated mitigation system that vents the gas from beneath your home to the outdoors. Relying on a room purifier alone won’t keep your indoor air safe.

Opening a few windows in your home might dilute radon for a short time, but the gas seeps back in as soon as they’re closed. For a lasting fix, you’ll need a professional mitigation system—often a sub-slab depressurization fan—that pulls radon from beneath the foundation and safely vents it outside.
