"Had tub removed and replaced with shower. The installer and his son was professional. The job was completed in the same day. Only thing is he will need to come back because the shower head was not placed properly."

"All workers were respectful and polite. They finished work in less time than I thought and cleaned up any mess which I appreciated. Tub and wall look beautiful. They explained how to use it. Customer service was great starting with sales rep and throughout installation. They removed the big whirlpool tub and installed a walk-in tub."

"I want to start by saying I rarely write reviews. In this case, I definitely wanted to make an exception. I cannot say enough good things about the experience we have had so far with Troy and his entire crew. We had an idea of what we wanted to do but was not sure exactly how much of that was realistic, especially considering we were trying to stay within our budget. Over the course of the project, I threw them plenty of curveballs with changes along the way. Not once was I told it could not be done. At times there was going to be an added cost but that was expected, explained upfront, and always more than fair. He also made sure to point out if there was a smarter more economical way to accomplish the same thing we were going for. It was incredibly exciting to see how much they accomplished in a days work. We could not wait to get home after work to see the progress and we were never disappointed. Communication was tremendous. I was always kept informed about when they would be there and what to expect timing-wise. The project moved fast. Much faster than we anticipated and that was greatly appreciated since we were living in the basement waiting for the project to get to the point we could move upstairs. They completely remodeled the kitchen, took out a couple of walls, installed the wood flooring throughout the main level, painted the walls, ceiling and baseboards, moved light switches, changed out and moved some can lighting, installed new light fixtures, refaced the fireplace, installed new stair railing and stairs and much more that I cannot even remember. In other words they can do it all. Our current project is almost complete. Perhaps the best recommendation we can make is that we are actually looking forward to the next project! We had such a good experience with Troy, Greg and his crew that we are now planning on remodeling the bathrooms too. There is also no question on who we will use. I will try to put up some pictures so everyone can see their excellent work. I only wish I had thought to take some *before* pictures so you could see the drastic changes."

Customers say: True professional

"They were extremely professional. They were very helpful in helping us figure out how best to do our bathroom, Very clean, we expected a huge mess with the amount of work that needed to be done but they cleaned everything up very good every day and were very careful as to not disturb the rest of the house. They did all the work themselves, no subcontractors, so it was the same guys in our house every day. They did the project in a very timely manor, they actually finished a little sooner than we expected. They explained everything they were doing every day so we knew what to expect. We got several estimates from other contractors, some were higher and some were lower but we feel the price was very fair. We love our new bathroom and would highly recommend Bathtime if you are looking to get any work done."

I am a jack of trades independent contractor/ handyman with 10+ years experience. I am not a licensed plumber, licensed electrician, or licensed roofer. With that said it's easier to just tell you the things that I don't do. I do not do drain work, I do not replace electrical lines or panel boxes, I do not replace plumbing lines which includes water and gas, and I do not replace roofs. Aside from that I can do everything else, and have the tools to do so.

"I called Joe @Contractors Plus for an estimate on installing a walk in shower for my 95 yr old father. Joe came out the next day to give the estimate, and got busy on it right away. It was finished on schedule within 3 days. Joe gave us a very fair price and my father was pleased with the result. Joe went out of his way to make my dad happy. The shower looks great, and he installed a couple grab bars to assist my dad in and out of the shower. I will definitely call Joe at Kitchen & Bath Specialties Contractors Plus for other projects."

FAQs for walk in tub installation and replacement projects in Washington, IL

Because Medicare classifies walk-in tubs as non-durable medical equipment, it generally won’t pick up the tab. Medicaid can help if a doctor certifies that the tub is medically necessary, but rules change by state. Call your plan early, ask which forms you need, and keep any prescriptions or letters on file to improve your odds of reimbursement.

A walk-in bathtub’s fill and drain times hinge on your home’s water pressure and the tub’s hardware. Most models with a fast-fill faucet need about six to eight minutes to fill and two to three minutes to drain; larger basins or standard drains can tack on an extra 10 minutes. Stay seated until the water is completely gone so you don’t swing the door open on a full tub’s worth of water.

A walk-in bathtub holds 50 gallons of water, and its design supports capacities that range from 40 to 80 gallons, depending on the product. In contrast, a standard bathtub holds 25 to 45 gallons. This capacity is determined by the fixed design of the tub and its construction materials. Homeowners should review the detailed product specifications to confirm the exact volume available for use during bath time.

Walk-in tubs are tax-deductible when the purchase qualifies as a necessary medical expense and meets the IRS criteria. Caregivers who install a walk-in tub also qualify for the Dependent Care Tax Credit under specific conditions. Homeowners must verify these requirements with the IRS and consult a tax professional, as state and program guidelines enforce strict documentation standards for such deductions.
