"Greg and his team provided a great quote for a poured concrete driveway and stamped concrete patio well below other quotes we received. He was very responsive as to the work dates due to rain and the job was done quickly. Greg was able resolve an issue with the concrete color and we get compliments from all our neighbors on how great the job looks."

"Mike and Leo did a great job leveling my front steps taking care not to damage nearby landscaping. They were professional and efficient. They added sand to the poly crack to minimize the color difference where the crack was repaired. They also cleaned up the work area nicely. I would highly recommend Detroit Concrete Leveling."

"Mark came out to look at the area in question. He made some recommendations for size and design to match the style and look of the house. He sketched out the patio dimensions and provided a price. I hired them and they came to perform the work as scheduled."

"Joe removed the old patio, and when told about a sometimes, reoccurring leak in the basement suggested that we dig down to the foundation and waterproof the basement wall. Joe pointed out a crack that was the cause of the leak. The crew, after digging and exposing the outer basement wall, cleaned the wall so well, it looked very close to newly poured cement. He did this to insure that the patch would last for the life of our home. Several layers were used over the wall including a rubberized membrane and rigid solid foam. He even replaced the drain tile. He did an exemplary job on the finish of the new patio and the waterproofing. The crew did their best to return the lawn to it's pre-construction condition. We were and are very satisfied with the work a year later and our yard has, seemingly enlarged, greatly with the tall bushes removed."

"Both projects went very well. Mike was knowledgeable and provided me with a detailed estimate. His price and repair options were very good. He and his co-worker arrived when they said they would, and finished the work a day early - I was very pleased. Additionally, once the old chimney was taken apart, Mike found more repairs that needed to be made and recommended a better solution than originally planned and quoted. However, he also suggested a way to reuse some brick and the cost stayed the same. Again, i was pleased. I'd hire Mike again, for sure."

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Wayne, MI

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
