"In addition to the gutter guards which were installed and the downspouts buried, Thrasher also changed out a misfitting basement window well and cover, and installed a Sadona dehumidifying system. Jonah and his crew of Corrin and Luis were excellent at the work they did. I was called before they arrived, to ensure I was ready for them to start work, and Jonah went over the work with me prior to starting, to confirm what was to be done. Completely professional. After it was completed, we inspected it together and everything was perfect. I will worry less next time it rains! I will definitely recommend Thrasher if anyone I know needs work done."

"The predicted installation time was 3 days and was accomplished on schedule! The installation team- Tim, Lee and Nick, were very competent, professional and friendly. They worked extra hard because it was necessary to stage their truck and trailer over 100 feet from the job site. When an unexpected problem arose where one of the engineered drain channels could not work in this application, installation team lead Tim had other solutions in mind and the company was able to deliver suitable alternate material without delaying the project. I am very pleased with the end result, and also want to recognize excellent efforts of the system designer/project estimator- Tim Miller, for his professional approach to evaluating the problem and working collaboratively with me to develop a sound solution. My thanks also to Kaylan for managing this project."

"I got Owen's phone number from my insurance guy of over 20 years.  Courtney was prompt for the estimate appointment.  Went throughout the house and outside looking at the situation.  Provided a quote and estimated start time, and came through on both.  There were some other issues that came up while they were working, i.e., frozen outside faucet busted, electrical issues, and Courtney promptly took care of those for me.  <br /> After the work was completed, I had a structural engineer come out to review the work and provide a structural report-the house is on the market for sale and needed the report to back up the work.  The structural engineer said the work was well done and gave the entire basement a clean bill of health.  He also said the walls that were not worked on were structurally sound and it was nice to see a company not gouge somebody for more work when it was not necessary.  He also said he enjoyed seeing good work done when folks pay so much money to get something like this done, because he really does NOT enjoy telling people they need to spend more money to get it done right if it was not done right the first time. <br /> Overall, I am glad my insurance guy pointed me to this company, very impressed with the professional attitude, Courtney kept me up to date on a regular basis during the job, and the high marks from the structural engineer supported the work was done well. <br /> <br /> <br />"

"The grade was done well given what the contractor had to work with.  Due to erosion, the side yards where somewhat washed out.  I asked about filling it in with a few loads of top soil, but the grading contractor blew me off a bit saying, "That should have been done before the sprinkler system was installed."  While this may be the case, I think they should have let me know this before I installed the sprinkler system.  I had called in advance of the sprinkler system installation to get advice as to how to prepare the property for a sprinkler system and sod.  It seems to me this would have been the time to advise me to have additional soil delivered to the property to fill in the erosion on the side yards.  But, I was not advised of this.  So, while they did a good job grading the property as it was, I would have appreciated more advice in prepping the place before the contractor came. <br />"

"We hired Wichita Plumbing Co. to install a natural gas line to connect to a fire pit on our patio, and we were very pleased with the friendly service and the quality of work. The Beales are class acts. They kept us informed throughout the process--which included some weather delays (certainly not their fault)--and gave us a very fair price for the extent of the work involved. We're happy to have finally found a plumbing service that we won't hesitate to hire whenever the need arises."

"The plumber arrived within one hour after I called. He probed the area but could not find he exact location of <br /> the leak. He said leak was too deep to hand dig and would require a baby back hoe. His estimate for the total <br /> repair was $700 to $1000. Another plumber arrived a short time later with the back hoe and the work was completed that <br /> same day. This included repairing two sprinkler lines that were damaged during the digging. <br /> <br /> <br />"

FAQs for basement drainage channels installation projects in Wellington, KS

Expect a well-built French drain to last 30 to 40 years. By channeling both surface- and ground-water away from your foundation, the system relieves hydrostatic pressure and helps prevent costly structural damage. Choose a pipe with a quality cloth filter to keep sediment out and extend the drain’s life. A quick annual inspection and routine cleanouts will keep water flowing freely, ensuring the system continues to protect your home for years to come.

Most French drains sit two feet below grade, but depth ultimately depends on the problem you’re solving. For puddling rainwater or snowmelt, a shallow curtain drain at lawn level often does the trick. To handle rising groundwater, pros dig deeper, down to the footing, and run the pipe beneath the basement slab. A drainage contractor will determine the optimal depth for your specific soil conditions and water issues.

A properly installed interior French drain captures water at the slab, channels it to a sump pit, and directs it safely outside, preventing basement floods before they occur. Because the pipe sits just under the floor edge, a plumber can reach it easily for cleaning or repairs. Pairing the drain with a reliable sump pump gives you the best long-term protection.

Hire a contractor who installs drainage systems every day—typically a foundation specialist, drainage contractor, experienced landscaper, or plumber with waterproofing experience. These pros understand slope, soil, and local codes, and they have the equipment to trench safely around utilities. Ask for references and photos of recent jobs to be sure they can design a system that keeps water off your foundation for decades.

Once the drain is in, patch the yard by reseeding bare spots or replacing plants the crew removed. Inside, look for ways to add value—finishing the basement or upgrading interior waterproofing while the space is open often costs less now than later. Schedule a quick annual checkup to flush sediment and confirm the pipe and sump pump are clear. Consistent maintenance ensures the drain functions properly and protects your investment.

Most policies don’t cover the cost of repairing a French drain itself, but they may provide coverage for water damage if the system fails. Coverage varies by insurer, so be sure to read the fine print or contact your agent before any issues arise. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, consider a separate flood policy to close the gap. Knowing your coverage in advance helps you budget for repairs and avoid unexpected costs.
