"Ahmad, who I think is the owner, was very personable & enjoyable to talk with. Unfortunately he is either incompetent or a bald faced liar. He was sent out by my home warranty company. One of my garage door torque springs broke. He had a 33" spring in his truck & promptly put it on to go along with the 40" spring that wasn't yet broke. Clearly a no-no. Both springs shared same metal diameter & inner diameter. He insisted it was fine. 2nd spring promptly broke & that too had to be replaced. Well now I had 2 33" springs vs. the original pair of 40" springs. It worked, but certainly would not hold up as well as the 40". Its like if you took your F-150 with a blown 5.0L engine and they gave you the 2.7L. It will work, just not as well & probably not as long. I had warranty company send out a different company to replace with proper springs. The fact that they did should tell you how far off base Michelin Garage Door & Openers LLC of Dearborn is. DO NOT TRUST DO NOT USE."

"Garage door opener struggled under 15 degrees. I called mammoth to replace the motor. Pro came out, took a look, said "motor only 6 years old. This should not be a problem". He adjusted the motor settings instead of replacing a costly motor. I am extremely impressed with the professionalism and honesty. He was prompt to boot. Mammoth has earned my life long trust. FAQs for garage door opener repair or adjustment projects in West Bloomfield, MI

Garage door costs range somewhat broadly, depending on the type you choose. However, you’ll also need to factor in labor costs, which vary from state to state and between pros.

A chain driven operator costs between $150 - $250. For a belt driven operator it is usually $160 - $450. A screw-driven operator is between $250-$500.

To keep garage door opener repair costs down, you should check that the whole apparatus is working normally on a regular basis. This means making sure that the tracks of your door are greased and fully operational, and that the door itself is in good condition.

Installing a new garage door opener runs from $250 to $500 at least. If your repair costs are close in cost to that range or if your garage door is 10 to 15 years old, you should probably replace it instead of repair.

However, it’s a better idea to fix your garage door opener if it’s less than eight years old or if repair costs are less than replacing.

Garage door openers usually last between 10 and 15 years. However, several factors contribute to how long your garage door opener can last. If you schedule regular inspections and practice proper care, you can maximize your garage door opener’s lifespan, saving money in the long run. As a general rule, practice the same care for your garage door opener as you would the door itself.

These tell-tale signs indicate your garage door is going bad, including:

  • Not closing or opening at all

  • The door reversing when you try to open and/or close it

  • Inconsistent opening and closing; more noise than usual (grinding, scraping, or banging)

  • Sticking or stalling when you try to open or close it

If you experience one or more of these signs, it’s time to call a professional garage door repair service.
