"United Freight of America did an absolutely fantastic job! I have never needed a service like this before, but I went to Angie's list found the highest rated service and United Freight came through perfectly! Very responsive and professional staff! "So this might sound complicated. Basically, I needed a bunch of small projects done and waited until I had a enough to justify a repairman coming in. I called Home Repair Team after I had a horrible experience with another repair group who drug out scheduling an appointment after I already paid my deposit. Why can't you just give me a date?! I was going on vacation in the next month so I needed to arrange my work schedule so I could be home. Home Repair Team was very easy to work with on this respect. When I called about scheduling an appointment after they gave me a quote and I gave them my deposit. They were transparent about time lines and expectations.
First project: I had left my hose on the outside faucet my first winter in Iowa and it cracked in the spring when I tried to use it. So I needed the pipe replaced with a freeze-safe one. It required opening the wall in my downstairs bathroom to access the pipe, so dry wall repair had to be done as well.
Second project: My fan in my primary bathroom went out and died. It was installed in 1968 and had an abnormal dimension. I needed it replaced. But they needed to widen the hole and install a new fan.
Third project: I installed a door to my basement because I am renting out that area. When the door was installed, we had to take the door frame back a few inches to fit the footprint of the area. The light going down to the lower level ended up too close to the door to be used. I had the HRT move the light about a foot to be even with the door to the lower level and the door to the utility room. The light was originally attached to the light in the entryway as well. I had them deaden that connection and attach the light to a switch so the entryway light and the lower level were now 2 separate switches.
Fourth project: When I moved into my house, I switched out an ugly chandelier above the dining room table to a ceiling fan light. Well, I wanted to have the light and the fan be independent of each other. I had them install an appropriate switch for it. I didn't know if there was a powerbox above the fan. Luckily there was one, so it made the job a little easier.
Fifth project: my hallway to the bedrooms had a dimmer switch. Who has a dimmer switch in the hallway?! Everytime my roommates would turn on the light, they would forget to turn the light all the way off, so I had a constant flicker of light. I had them take out the dimmer switch for a simple off and on switch.
Sixth project: My roommate decided that she didn't like my garage as is and hit the side of it backing out. So, the door was not damaged, but the side of the garage had visibly shifted. HRT replaced two 2x4 pieces, the seal and painted the garage exterior with paint I provided.
Seventh project: I had holes in my wall from damages inflicted by my roommate. I had them mud up the holes and sand them to be even. I painted over the area at a later time.
Overall a good experience. They emailed me all the invoices and I mailed them checks. They were in good communication with me and I will use them again after I save up more money for the things I need done.

"

"He does work himself and he coordinates for other trades. I have found him to be innovative and reliable. If I need something done and I don’t know who to go to, I simply call Les. He is willing to do research on things and I highly recommend him. He came up with a solution for an outside stair problem; it looked good, it worked better than what we had in mind, and it left less of a footprint in our backyard. He researched the type of staircase, came up with the one he thought was best, and presented the plan to us. He is a very reliable contractor and he does exactly what he says he will. He is imaginative, innovative, and dependable. He isn’t the cheapest but it ends up being cheaper in the end."

"Installation progressed on time. Two issues I was disappointed with was that I had cement board for below the tile but he installed plywood under the shower instead of using cement board throughout. Also he moved the heater/air conditioning vent down in a very sloppy manner so the cover did not fit well.
"
