"Review: Portland, Maine: LeafFilter installed in the gutters (July 2025) and put the downspout in an area that brings more water to the home. Therefore, causing water to come in the basement. I have tried numerous times to get them to call, and work on this problem, but if they reply back, it is asking me where i would put the downspout. I hired them to bring water away from the house, and paid them for their expertise, which appears to be limited. They basically come out to make the sale, and there is no support after. I have tried to work with them numerous times and they do not return calls; they have come out twice, only to not show back up to actually fix the problem. Their departments do not communicate with each other so you talk with different people, and the issue is still not fixed. I have asked to talk with Tim the Regional Manager, and have yet been 'allowed' to speak with him. "

"Hired 128 plumbing today to replace a shower and tub faucet. Technician (Stephen L) arrived, and we discussed what needed to be done. Stephen got rite to work and got all the repairs done in a timely fashion. He was friendly, efficient and took the time to answer all my questions on the repairs that I had. Good technician. "I used to like them. Use them for my big install of backup basement sump pump. This time, I was out of the country, my rental property in MA needs a toilet fix. It was a standard water tank leak and we need to replace the inside mechanism. Milltown came and said 'rebulid the toilet', my wife authorize them to do it as I was not reachable at the time their plumber was at the rental property. They were in and out according to my tenant for at most 45 min, rebuilding two toilet tank and fixed the leak. The bill came to be 1200, $600 a toilet. One line item on the receipt is $470 for the kit they use to replace the plastic mechanism inside the water tank. I casually google the kit, I can get a universal sup kit for the toilet to replace that for $20. I called them, manager came on gave me that talk - we did hundreds of toilet leak and we average all of them to come up with the cost for that line item, which includes (a) parts (b) labor (c) our service guarantee for a prompt and reliable service Say they charge $200 /hr labor, 1 hr for two toilet is $100 labor for 1 toilet (remember, the plumber was there like 30-45 min rebuilding the two toilet). Say total parts are $100 (with markup), we are talking about $200 for fixing the leak of 1 toilet. They charged almost $600 for one toilet. You can do that math. I expect some up charge, but I am not paying $300 just for getting prompt reliable service. I turned around and asked for a few reliable plumber quote from Thumbstack with great reviews, most can do the job for $200 labor and I can get them the universal kit they will be able to come on the same day. So maybe if you want Milltown to do bigger job, that is ok. For smaller job, it does not worth it. Replacing the toilet flush mechanism is really not rocket science in plumbing. If I am not thousands of miles away, I would have done it myself after watching some Youtube video. I am willing to pay up charge for the service, but this is really above and beyond the normal up charge range, $1200 for a 30 min job replacing the toilet flushing mechanism in the water tank!!"

"I would thank them for the work and services. Max was very prompt and polite. We were definitely taken aback with the bill. We were not informed about any of the charges around: 1. Time taken for pulling the permit(1hour@$180) 2. Time for inspector coming in(1hour@$180) 3. Price for permit These 3 costs total to $425. The material cost of $263 definitely seemed marked up. * I wish they had mentioned about expecting these costs so that we could make an informed decision. * We have had several permits pulled in last year ( had frozen pipe burst situation so had renovations going on for multiple months) and never were charged for the time taken to pull permit or for inspectors time at the time of inspection. * Max mentioned it was going to be $180 an hour and you were here for 2 hours from start to end.. The father(Peter) kept mentioning about the emergency charges that there are plumbers that charge $300 an hour, I was clear that we were okay with waiting for a couple of days so there was no question of those charges being applied. He kept giving an explanation of the bill being high enough but it seemed very vague. We were charge $1100 for 2 hours of work to fix a slow gas leak that National grid had identified and pointed to us so they shut of our gas supply. National grid guys had told us that it would be only 1-2 hours of plumbing work. I would not recommend them for sure for the sour taste it has left for us. I wish we went with presidential plumbing or 128 plumbing that we have gone in the past. They are expensive but you know the quote before hand."

"I hired Long Roofing Products to replace my roof. From the beginning the sales man lied to me, telling me that they could take off my Gutter Helmets and put them back on correctly. This was lie #1. They have null and voided the warranty of my gutter helmets, because they were not supposed to touch them and according to Gutter Helmets all the roofers know this. lie #2 there were missing pieces on the ends of my gutter helmets to prevent the birds from getting into the gutters. The salesman told me they would order the piece from Gutter Helmets and replace it. This was never done. I have contacted them several times and they continue to tell me they will fix it and they never do. I would NEVER recommend them, I would only tell you NOT to use them. They talk a big game but never follow thru with their promise's."
