"Contacted Current Electric on the recommendation of a friend who had utilized their service and was pleased with the end result. Did not check prices with other companies, so not sure how reasonable the rate was. The circuit and 2 outlets installed in the soffet on the back of home was $589 for comparison. Technician came out on a holiday to provide estimate. Was quick and thorough. Received phone call to schedule service date within ~30 minutes. Technician arrived on time the day of install and performed work very quickly. Entire experience was quick, professional, and friendly. Price matched provided estimate."

"Great experience. Quick to respond with a quote, very reasonable price, complete and professional service. The three men were very courteous and respectful. They finished in the expected time and left all the work areas very clean. Their offered service was more complete than the other electrical companies we considered; they installed some fixtures that some other highly rated electrical companies declined to handle."

"I'm so glad we went with JM Electric to replace/upgrade our electrical panel. They were fast, efficient, professional, courteous, and above all gave great advice. They even installed my husband's new garage heater after installing the designated electrical wire for it. I have no clue as to what or where the wires go beyond the outlets themselves. I just mentioned what we needed, Josh and Zach explained everything prior and handled everything on installation day. Definitely will be hiring them again if we ever need more electrical work. Thanks again JM Electric! (Josh and Zach)"

"Red Fox Electric provided professional and prompt service. They provided superior customer service and was able to move our service work up on their schedule. Very knowledgeable and provided an excellent replacement to my electrical panel and added a whole-house surge protector as well. Highly recommend this company for any electrical service needs."

"I cannot say enough positive things about CT Electrical and the owner Charles. I had a very time sensitive new electrical panel installed. Charles made it happen in two days, even over a holiday weekend and pulled all permits. Great job, great communication, and best of all 50% less expensive than the â big guysâ . Charles is proud of the business he has built and his integrity shows!"

Customers say: Quality work

"Family business with a 40 + year Electrician with much experience. He is dedicated to Electrical contracting. John is very expert doing Electrical services during many code changes. His sons and employees are a family -- they do whatever it takes... When they have experiences with difficult, unepectedly barriers, they just carry on doing their work. In my case, they replaced an very old Electrical Panel. They had a great attitude toward customer's needs and wants. They did other electrical issues while they were there. Good people, skilled."

"For both jobs, the technician arrived on time. For the electrical panel, they brought two certified electricians for the job (Domenic was the primary). Both were extremely efficient, professional, friendly and clean. They obtained the permit and scheduled the inspection. The inspection occurred two days later with no problems. The inspector commented he though they had done an outstanding job. For the spa connection, Domenic returned and did an outstanding job on this as well. I would definitely hire this company again for any electrical. I felt the price was reasonable as well."

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Westminster, CO

While homeowners with substantial electrical knowledge might technically attempt a subpanel installation, most local building departments require permits and inspections for this type of work. Professional electricians understand local code requirements, can obtain necessary permits, and ensure the installation meets safety standards. Given the significant safety risks associated with incorrect electrical work, most homeowners benefit from hiring a licensed professional.

A standard subpanel installation takes an average of four to eight hours. This timeframe may extend if you're installing multiple subpanels or adding specialized circuits like those for spa equipment. Factors such as difficult access points, complex wiring paths, or permit processing times can also affect the overall project duration.

Adding a subpanel doesn't directly reduce electricity consumption or lower your utility bills. A subpanel simply redistributes power from your main panel to additional circuits. However, organizing your electrical system more efficiently may help prevent overloaded circuits and the associated problems. For actual cost savings, consider energy-efficient appliances and lighting instead.

The appropriate subpanel size depends on your specific electrical requirements. Consider the number and type of devices you'll be powering, potential future needs, and the capacity of your main electrical panel. An electrician can perform a load calculation to determine the most suitable amperage rating for your situation, ensuring you have adequate power without overpaying for unnecessary capacity.

A main electrical panel connects directly to your utility's power supply and contains your home's primary service disconnect. It distributes electricity throughout your entire house. A subpanel, by contrast, receives power from the main panel and redistributes it to a specific area of your home. Think of the main panel as the primary distribution point and the subpanel as a secondary branch that extends your electrical system's reach.

While electrical upgrades aren't as immediately visible as kitchen or bathroom renovations, they can contribute to your home's functionality and safety. Prospective buyers often appreciate updated electrical systems that can accommodate modern power demands. A properly installed subpanel that provides additional capacity for workshops, home offices, or future expansions could be an attractive feature for certain buyers, though the direct impact on home value varies by market.
