"My yard was the eye sore of the neighborhood with overgrown weeds, shrubs and yard waste. EJ’s team of three spent six hours making my lawn look great and I received admiration from my neighbors with the job they performed. Many thanks to EJ and the team who performed my service. They were very friendly and professional."

"From start to finish it went great. Ben came to see what we wanted and before he left he had the price for us. Way better than we expected. They started within a few days and the workers were all very professional and worked well together. It was a huge job and we were very happy with them from day one. Would highly recommend them to anyone. I guarantee you won't find better! We'll use them again in the future."

"Clarksville Construction is the WORST contractor I have ever worked with. From day one, the project was a complete mess. The quality of the work was terrible, filled with mistake after mistake. The job involved installing a new door and replacing wood with PVC panels around the bay windows and the chimney box -- a relatively simple project, one would think. However, it was anything but simple for Clarksville Construction. Find a better contractor and save yourself all these problems. If you know of any, please add them in the comments. Here is a list of some of the problems encountered. 1. On the first day, the crew did not bring a generator, which caused the circuit breaker to trip repeatedly. 2. On the second day, a drill was left on top of the chimney, which was very dangerous. My neighbors noticed it. They also commented that the crew's performance led them to decide not to use Clarksville Construction for their future projects. 3.I observed that a section of cracked 2x10 wood.."

"Chris and his team at Sage Landscape are the best. They've been improving my front and back yard piece by piece for the past few years, and everything looks amazing. I don't know how they do it, but after they work their magic, all the plants suddenly reappear and grow beautifully after a long winter of neglect. They also installed a paver patio for me last summer, and I love it. Chris pays attention to the little details with finesse, and he stands behind his work. I can't say enough about Chris and Victor. They work really hard and have turned my once ugly yard into a peaceful retreat that I'm proud to show off!"

"We had a lot of emails and calls to determine the best tank replacement and the exact dimensions. The old tank was inside and there were several sets of narrow doors that had to be navigated to bring in the new tank. The crew finished in a half day and did a neat job transferring the oil in the old tank to the new, and in replacing pipes and fittings."

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Westminster, MD

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
