"He did the job and it ended up being $200 (40%) more than the quote, although it seems like maybe it was more complicated than he anticipated. He did drop the vent onto the stove (he hadn't properly secured it to the wall). Everything worked fine, although there was a minor scratch on the vent (it was a new install). I would have appreciated a discount after that or at least to honor the original quote. "

"I highly recommend West Suburban Appliance Repair. They provided very prompt, professional, polite, and honest service. I enormously appreciated the forthright cost-benefit analysis of repairing (new motor) v. replacing (buying new DW)--he could have recommended expensive repair so as to obtain the additional labor fee but instead suggested that I take some time to think about whether it'd make more sense to replace the DW through an appliance dealer (in which case no further fees would be earned)--seems very trustworthy--highly recommend and will call again!!!"

"Frank was on time and very courteous and professional. He pinpointed the problem quickly. I needed a compressor control module. He didn't have one, so he went and picked one up for me. He installed it and my fridge works like new. If ever i have an issue with any of my appliances, i will not hesitate to call him. Professional, polite and honest!"

FAQs for appliance (major electric appliance) installation and replacement projects in Wheaton, IL

A pro starts by setting the units in place and connecting them to the right plumbing lines, electrical circuits, and, for the dryer, a vent. If the hookups already exist, the job is quick. When they don’t, the installer must add plumbing, outlets, or a vent run, which takes more time and increases the price, especially when the laundry area is located far from existing utilities.

You’ll need the right pros for a tight stacked setup. A natural-gas plumber handles the water lines, drain, and any gas work, while an electrician installs the circuit the dryer needs. If venting or framing changes are required, hire a general contractor to patch the drywall or adjust the framing so that everything meets code and operates safely.

Permanent models need complete plumbing, electrical, and—for dryers—vent hookups. Portable units skip most of that and can run on a standard outlet with a temporary water connection. If your home already has a code-approved hookup, you just connect the new appliances. If not, hire a licensed pro to add the lines and vent so the machines run safely and efficiently.

Relocating a hookup costs between $500 and $5,000, as it may involve installing new outlets, gas lines, vents, and drain pipes. The price increases when the new location is far from existing utilities or requires additional framing and drywall work. Have licensed professionals evaluate your layout, provide a quote for the move, and handle the installation so that every component meets code and works safely.
