"Phil and Doug were wonderful to work with- very responsive, professional, and answered all of my questions. We replaced a regular window in our home with a 7 foot bay window, which is beautiful and we absolutely love it. My one complaint was that a hole in the wall underneath the window was left following the installation, as well as some cracks, which were patched with a foamy substance but not a proper smooth plaster repair job that could be painted. We had to take care of that repair ourselves. Otherwise, my experience was very positive."

"My neighbor found this company and had them do some work.  While the work was going on next door, the supervisor came over to my house to get an idea about what the job would involve, take measurements and give a preliminary estimate of cost.  They called a few days later to get more info on the skylights (to make sure of proper fit). I gave them a deposit and the replacement panes were ordered.  They gave me an idea of how long it would take to get the materials...warned me it would take a couple of weeks since it was a special order.  Once the panes came in, I was contacted to set up an install date.  They came when they said they were going to (a BIG plus in my book) and gave me an idea of how the job would proceed.  I was curious about the whole "how window panes get replaced" process and the crew was happy to answer all my questions.  The skylights were partially disassembled to get to the glass part.  The glass and frame were lowered to the deck so the crew could work on them. They removed the two moveable window pieces of the double-hung windows so they could work on them on a portable bench they brought.  They warned me that with the double-hung windows, that broken glass was highly likely (and it did happen).  It was all tedious and meticulous work, but they all seemed to know this was the nature of the work.  They completely cleaned up after themselves.  Once they were gone, the only trace that they had been there was the sparkling new panes in the windows and skylights.  The only reason I gave a B rating to the price (rather than an A) is that they were the only quote I got, so I don't have anything to compare it with...but the price seemed fair considering the labor involved.  One thing that stood out for me about this company was they kept me informed every step of the way.  I didn't have to hound them for information or nag them to put me on their work schedule (as I often have to with other service companies).  I highly recommend this company. <br />"

"Great! I had them look at my gutters about adding flashing and they showed that the original contractor did not install flashing at all! Behind my gutters Also showed me the improper work done by the people that repaired my roof. I really appreciate their honesty and excellent work Would use again and highly recommend."

FAQs for door or window screens install or repair projects in Winchendon, MA

Most off-the-shelf screens come in fixed sizes, ranging from 18 inches by 20 inches to 36 inches by 74 inches, which fit the vast majority of residential windows. If your opening falls outside that range or has a unique shape, you’ll need a custom screen built to the exact measurements. Going custom ensures a secure fit, a solid barrier against bugs, and a clean, finished look.

The decision to repair or replace your screen depends on the extent of the damage. Small holes or tears in otherwise solid mesh can be patched, and a sturdy frame usually doesn’t need to go anywhere. However, once the frame is bent or the mesh is brittle and fraying in several spots, replacement becomes a more sensible option—and often proves to be less costly in the long run. Take a close look at both parts before making a decision.

To rescreen a window, start by prying out the old spline, then lift the torn mesh from the frame. Lay the new screen over the frame, allowing about an inch of excess on all sides, and hold it in place while pressing fresh spline into the groove with a roller. Check that the mesh is taut—many pros rest a small brick on it while they work—then trim the overhang with a utility knife.

Most window screens last for 10 to 12 years. Time, sun, and weather gradually make the mesh brittle, so you’ll start to see sagging, rips, or thinning spots that let bugs get through. Check the screens each season; if the mesh crumbles or the frame warps, it’s time to replace them to keep air flowing and pests outside.

Most pros can swap out a screen in 10 minutes to an hour. A quick pop‑in replacement goes fastest, while fitting new mesh into an existing frame or working on a hard‑to‑reach upper window adds time. Either way, plan for at least a few extra minutes per screen so the installer can verify the fit and ensure the spline is seated correctly.
