"<p>While Hughes may not be the cheapest (they are also not the most expensive), they have consistently done quality work for us. We have worked with Joe Schaeffer as the lead on our projects and he is always professional, punctual and makes sure all work is done correctly per the estimate. Joe has also been very helpful to us when we have been selecting plants for our yard as we have a significant deer problem. He has taken the extra time to determine which plants will do well in specific areas of our yard based upon light and aesthetics while keeping in mind what the deer are less likely to eat. </p> <p>We would highly recommend Hughes based upon our experience with Joe. </p> <br />"

"While we initially went in for their free consultation to have a pavilion with fire place and stone work, they pitched a landscape plan for our entire property. We loved their design plan and they worked with us very well. Bill is a great guy and pleasure to work with. While we had a few quotes from other contractors, we chose Sharper Cuts. Overall work performed was very good. We had some concerns with grouting not filling pavers completely, but they came back to take care of this issue. Still, areas were still not done. Some of the flagstone tops used were not high quality with rust prevalent. Perhaps their supplier was the issue. They replaced inferior slabs. Plantings were good, but not great with some plants dying and needed replacing. Mulching was scantily done and we ended up spending close to $800 purchasing bulk mulch and laying more down ourselves. THE MAJOR problem we had was the damage done to our lawn along the path they used to drive the heavy machinery (like a Bobcat). They reseeded the area, but the ground was so compacted it didn't take. They came back and loosened the soil and re-seeded again. Much better but we still have a wide and long area where the ground is lower than the surrounding area due to the compaction. Kind of got tired asking for more work to be done. So, overall they are a very good contractor that strived to make things right. The reason for a "B" grade is the fact that issues should be addressed the right way the first time and not in a manner that patches the issue resulting in the customer having to call them back again. Still, they did respond promptly and did not avoid the issues. That is a BIG plus with any contractor. Perhaps they are trying to grow to big too fast and simply did not put the effort in to resolve the issues correctly the first time. Still, I think they are honestly trying their best and this may be a learning curve. We are thankful for their willingness to try to resolve issues despite still having issues outstanding."

"Edamarie was very knowledgeable and professional in her advice regarding the correction of these problems. She incorporated much of the correctly done work by that company in her planning. She also maintained the “natural feel” we had established in the previous landscaping work. Backyard Bounty’s Stonemason was also extremely professional and helpful in giving us advice. The quality of his team’s work and of his craftsmanship were extremely high. In addition, Edamarie worked with us in using environmentally sound erosion control solutions on a steep slope beside our driveway in addition to the steep Backyard beds with the same issues. These included firstly the use of various native plants and natural rocks in the beds. Then secondly, the construction of a large and long, beautiful natural stone retaining wall, which gently graduated downwards in height to match the the height of the bank behind it and the slope of the driveway. We were so pleased with the results, that we asked Backyard Bounty to return in 2014 in order to construct two further natural stone walls, re-construct parts of a dry rock wall and to create a long, meandering river stone swale leading all the way down one side of our home from the slope in our back yard, to a dry well (invisible to the eye), in the front yard. This not only solved drainage problems but was aesthetically beautiful. This work was all kept within our budget and made even more cost-effective by BB preserving the best of the previous company’s work and re-utilizing the materials from the work that had to be re-designed."

"Greystone did a fantastic job designing and installing our stamped concrete patio and sitting wall.  The crew was professional and they made every effort to minimize the impact to the rest of my front yard.  My wife and I were extremely happy with the service and quality of the patio.  Highly recommend them for any concrete work you may have.   There price was very reasonable and the quality can't be beat. <br />"

"We cannot be any happier with the results. We initially wanted yard work but at the moment they were not available . The staff was kind enough to show interest in possible ideas to rejuvenate our yard. We decided on a paver patio and horseshoe driveway ! So glad we had open minds. They were flexible to our needs which made everything so much better. They are really professional and efficient."

"Delivery and stacking went off efficiently.  They were pretty expensive, but given the time of the year, I didn't feel that I had much room to bargain (I should have called back in September).  The cord doesn't look entirely full and there was a bunch of Poplar, which I don't consider hardwood.  I'll remember next time to ask for oak. <br />"

"Merrifield Garden Center: we explained in general the look we wanted, and which plants we wanted to retain from the current planting. Their plan, a low-maintenance combination of plants and stone pathways, was creative and beautiful. They were on-time, on-budget, friendly, responsive and above all very committed to making sure we were pleased with the final result. We highly recommend their services, and we will use them again for any future projects. An A+ job!"

FAQs for interlocking pavers for driveways & floors installation projects in Winchester, VA

With proper maintenance, permeable pavement can last for over 20 years. Bi-annual vacuuming prevents clogs from debris and sediment, extends the pavement’s lifespan, and helps you avoid costly driveway repairs. Permeable pavement often has a shorter lifespan in areas with heavy traffic or harsh weather conditions.

Pervious and porous usually refer to pouring asphalt or concrete—which is a single massive object—but with enough small holes to allow for even drainage. This is also sometimes called thirsty concrete. Permeable concrete pavers are precast concrete designed to also allow for drainage. Permeable grass pavers allow grass to grow through them and provide drainage.

Pervious, porous, and permeable pavers are similar because they make it easier for rain or snow to drain or absorb into the ground rather than overload the storm or sewer systems.

The most significant benefit of water-permeable pavement is that it helps precipitation absorb better (and slower) into the ground, which avoids overloading sewers and causing overflows and backups. It also helps recharge the groundwater and prevent agricultural runoff from lawns.

If you’ve ever seen water rushing into a storm drain, permeable pavement prevents that. Instead of water running off a steep driveway, a good amount of it “soaks” directly underneath the pavement.

Topmix permeable concrete costs $8 to $16 per square foot, including all installation costs. However, they give out estimates on a project-by-project basis. However, Tarmac, the company that made the product, no longer produces Topmix.

Ecoraster is a brand that offers many different permeable paving options in North America. Prices vary depending on the product and project. They’ll give estimates for each individual project. While not actual pavers, these grids serve a similar function. Ecoraster grids come in various styles and allow for similar drainage compared to permeable pavers or porous paving.

Permeable driveways may cost slightly more than a traditional paving type, but they reduce or eliminate the need to install any other type of drainage system. Drainage systems cost $2,000 to $6,500 to install. They also reduce stormwater runoff, sewer overflows, and help eliminate urban agriculture runoff, which can pollute waterways.
