"Nick called and said he could arrive early if convenient and that was perfect. He quickly identified the source of a leak in a drain pipe between a second floor bathroom and basement. In less than two hours he replaced a section of pipe in the wall that had been damaged by a nail. His work quality was excellent and was very efficient. I now prefer paying an hourly rate as opposed to most plumbing companies that charge by individual services that keep being added after the initial estimate."

"Good Call Plumbing is a fitting name for this company. I had them upgrade the inside water shut off valves for our faucets and toilets, plus the outside water spigot for our home. Steve the owner was a pleasure to work with and he provided a competitive quote. His plumbers: Jake and Zak were absolutely fantastic, they were professional, knowledgeable, customer friendly, finished the job on time and treated our home with great respect. I highly recommend them for your plumbing needs, Five Stars!"

"Overpriced and untrustworthy. They charge $200 an hour and will still bill you if they stand around and do nothing. Got charged $400 for them to sit in their vehicle. Then they left and didn't do any work! Came back a 2nd time told me they fixed everything but there were still leaks. Came back again. Fixed the "leaks they missed last time" then took down one of the walls saying "There is a leak behind it" but there wasn't any?! Got charged for that. After all the bs the total was over $2,000 and this was done to a struggling single mother with 2 teenagers. Disgusting...."

"We live in an older neighborhood with a unique older sewer system that uses a septic catch basin/tank (~500 gal) that discharges to the main (city) sewer system. Most of the plumbers and other septic companies I spoke with had no experience with this, but A&J has worked in this area before and understood what to look for. We are new owners of the home, but according to our neighbors the tank has not been opened in over 30 years! We provided all the details on the system that we had discovered and even sent photos. We scheduled for a septic pumping, rodding and camera of the discharge line. The septic crew gave us a courtesy call 30 minutes prior to arrival and wanted to make sure we knew there was a digging fee to unbury the tank lid after the first foot…We were not told that while setting up the appointment. We postponed the service and dug up the lid ourselves, which A&J had no problem with. Once the lid was exposed, we rescheduled and again the septic crew gave us a courtesy call. They arrived on-time and were professional but brief. Our sanitary solids were right at the bottom of the inlet, and the septic crew did a decent job pumping and a good job taking care in our yard and keeping their equipment organized. Unfortunately, their power washer was broken and they had to use our hose and water. We had to ask to get my hose cleaned off afterwards – you would think they would do that automatically, as a courtesy, after having to use it. Additionally, we were told we may have a soil bottom and they couldn’t spend “all day” (<1hr) pumping. (Afterwards, I called the city and they said that was very unlikely). If the crew brought the right equipment (working power washer, crust buster or equiv.) then the pumping would not have taken so long. The sewer rodding staff, Kyle, was the star of the show! He called us 1.5 hrs before the appointment to let me know his current job was likey to go long and there was traffic getting out of Chicago, so we pushed the appointment – he arrived exactly when he said he would. He set up his equipment quick and efficiently, the whole time explaining what he was planning to do and asking questions about my system. Kyle noticed our outlet baffle was loose due to its age and looooong neglect, was at risk of breaking during service. Note my outlet baffle is almost 7 ft bgs. Kyle provided us with a few troubleshooting options and explained the risk and benefits clearly. In the end he worked carefully, protected our baffle and had the line cleared all the way to the main in no time. Kyle even saved us a few hundred $, noticing there was a fair amount of sludge on the rodder cable. With the tank still filling (no water discharge) the camera lens would be obscured by the sludge, but we still would have to be charged for the service. He recommended waiting a few weeks to allow the line to clear and either reschedule the camera service then or just monitor the tank and request the service as needed. All in all, A&J did good work, but I was not fully impressed with the pumping service and was considering another contractor next time until Kyle showed up. He was knowledgeable, clear and truthful and got the work done efficiently. That’s how a service should be provided – having the tools to perform the work, well trained, up front and courteous staff."

"These guys are real quality. They know their business, show up on time, and get the job done in a professional fashion. As with all companies things sometimes go wrong. Great companies like Fettes deal with it and do whatever it takes (within reason) to make the customer happy. This is a great company."

"We were on well water when our pipes sprung a leak. Unfortunately, our pipes are under the driveway and masonry walls. So we opted to tap in to city water. John Bollweg and an assistant did all the plumbing work and had a driller/borer put a line through the front yard. They prepared us in advance for what was needed, such as clearing out a section of the basement for the work and repairing the front easement after the work was completed. The job went smoothly, much more than we expected since it was complicated. John came the day before the drilling to install the interior pipe in preparation. The driller/borer came the next day and did the underground work while John excavated outside and hooked everything up inside. The entire crew was efficient and professional. They cleaned up after themselves."

"I had used Callahan Plumbing in Lemont several weeks ago on the recommendation of a neighbor to replace a corroded natural gas line outside for my new Weber natural gas grill. I was very satisfied with the work. Fast forward to the Thursday before 4th of July weekend and I woke up to my son telling me the toilet on the main floor was backed up and water was coming up through the shower drain when he flushed. I went downstairs to the basement to discover waste water leaking from the toilet flange upstairs and all of the waste lines in my home completely full of water. I immediately called Callahan Plumbing before they opened for business and got their 24-hour answering service. The receptionist advised me that they would get a hold of the on-call plumber who would get back to me. About 20 minutes later the co-owner, Oscar Gutierrez, called me back and I explained my problem and answered some of his questions about my waste lines. Based on what I was telling him he feared the worst; that the cast iron pipe leading outside my foundation that my main PVC waste line connects to, had a break somewhere. Nonetheless, he wanted to be sure it wasn’t a bad clog or roots growing into one of the joints. He told me that all of his plumbers were in the middle of jobs, but he would have someone at my home by early afternoon. In the meantime, he advised me to unplug my ejector pump, turn off my water supply and not use any toilets to prevent any more waste water from going into the drain lines. About 1:30pm three of his plumbers showed up. They had a nifty device with a hose that attached to the clean out trap near the foundation to relieve the backed-up waste water into a thirty gallon garbage bin a little at a time until the lines were all clear. Because of this device none of the waste water spilled into my basement. It wouldn’t have been pleasant. Once the water was cleared and the clean out trap cap opened, they worked for about an hour and a half trying to rod through the main sewer line but all they kept pulling out was mud, waste and whatever the builders had thrown as garbage near the foundation before backfilling it. This was confirmation that the cast iron drain line had cracked or caved in and was no longer connected to the city sewer line. The plumbers told me that they hoped to at least get a partial connection so we could use light water or take showers, but unfortunately it was not going to be the case. Being a holiday weekend and already late in the afternoon it wasn’t likely that the Village would be able to provide a permit until the following week. I did make contact with the Village of Lemont building department while the plumbers were still on site. They were very understanding and advised that because of the situation they would allow work to begin as long as I came in first thing Monday morning to file the permit application. They spoke to one of the plumbers and advised them that the finished work would need to remain open until an inspector gave the okay to fill it and close it back up. The plumbers told me they were going to put their tools away as it was already late in the day and have Oscar get back to me. A short while later Oscar called me back and empathized with my situation. He asked me if I had the option for my family to stay elsewhere for the weekend, which I did. He related that his plumbers weren’t scheduled to work the following day, Friday, as it was a holiday for them. He related that he could get them to come in Friday, but it would have to be charged at emergency work rates. The other option would be to wait until Monday morning, since he had the flexibility to move some people around, and it would be charged at the regular rate. I could not afford the cost to have it done Friday and was appreciative that he could start as early as Monday without the added cost. It was just bad timing for me because it happened right before the holiday. I agreed to Monday. First thing Monday morning Oscar and a few of his plumbers arrived at my home and began work. They had to dig about 6 feet deep and about eight feet out from my foundation to get to the entire buried cast iron pipe and to the Village’s connection. Upon digging it was confirmed that the cast iron pipe had completely separated about eight inches from the foundation and over the years the line had dropped about 12-18 inches below where it would have connected into my foundation. They spent the better part of the morning and early afternoon in the hot sun digging and getting the cast iron pipe out. By about 1pm they were able to make the new PVC connections and get everything tested. Thank goodness everything was flowing normally again; the things we take for granted sometimes! We had to wait about an hour and a half for the Village inspector to check out the work and give his final approval, then they backfilled the hole and cleaned up any mess that was made. By the time everything was cleaned up and hosed off you really couldn’t tell that the front of my home had been dug up. Callahan Plumbing was able to do the work without removing a large decorative bush in the pipe’s path and without disturbing a small weeping cherry tree that was nearby. The work was done professionally and they cleaned up everything afterward. I thought the cost was very fair and reasonable under the circumstances. Callahan Plumbing has definitely earned the right to be my “go to” plumber anytime I need plumbing work done. It was obvious from the inspection and the rapport they had with the Village that they knew what they were doing. I highly recommend them without hesitation"

"Would not recommend this plumber. Owner Brad was asked to return to fix a problem that was not fixed during the first service visit. He charged us a second time $150 service fee plus parts to fix one of the original problems with a toilet. He was here about 10 minutes to fix the leak. We questioned him about the second service fee and asked him to please work with us because the problem was not fixed the first visit. He reluctantly offered to take $10 off! Really? Really?? We value everyone's time, but in this case we feel Brad was not willing to work with us at all! We would not recommend Marquise Plumbing because of Brad's unwillingness to reasonably reduce the service call or eliminate it because of the situation. His lack of thoroughness and skill to fix the problem properly during the first service call was problematic costing us time and money! This handling felt really wrong and unprofessional. This handling is NOT the way to keep a customer or to gain new ones. We will NOT hire again!"
