"We're redoing our driveway & I wanted to have the landscape lighting wires running under the driveway checked, after the demo & before new concrete was poured. Mr. Sparky came to assess the driveway wires, the general health of the system, & potentially do some separate rewiring. When the technician came, he said it would be $220 to diagnose the driveway wires and ? since it was almost dark ? another $220 to come back the next day & assess the rest of the job. Since the concrete was being poured the next day, I agreed to the first $220, but was bothered that timing meant I would have to pay twice for the assessment. After a few minutes, he said he had found one cut wire. He noticed it ran underground (about 7 feet through brush to a fixture) and said, "I don't dig for $220." That, he said, would be an all-nighter costing $1500. I declined. Plus, there was no low voltage wire on the truck, so they were unprepared for a landscape lighting job. It was a lot of money for very little."
